Regardless of any of it, Nathan is one of the few people that would actually cone here and give what was sometimes good advice to people trying to learn ..thats more than I could say for many of the "look what I bought" builders that come here with opinions and little else..

These are the people that annoy me. Never touched a spanner, laptop, or wideband, but all of a sudden know everything because their tuner \ mechanic talked a bit of shit into their ears to get their money.

I've made mistakes, been mis informed etc, but I try and better my ways as much as possible.

I've been tuning for years, and looking at tunes from some of the best workshops around I have been disappointed and I'm very glad that I can do it all myself and get a better effort, every time, for free.

Its a good thread and had been interesting to see others running 300+ for quite a while without a hassle....... I plan to join it soon

i assume cams doesnt count as opening the engine? Or does it?

cams are fine.

it's essentially a bolt on part. the point here is more the bottom end

Sweet, well i should be posting in here around mid month if all goes to plan!

mods: master power t56, 550cc injectors, FFP, top mount ex man, 38 ext gate plumbed back, 3 inch, FMIC,bosch 044, link G4 using the link boost control,

fuel: BP 98

power: 300rwkw 2 years, retune with link g4(removing chipped z32 ecu and z32 afm) to 324rwkw, 300rwkw low boost

useage: road use, not daily driven

lifespan: 2 years

failure:

comments: need new coils, still making more power over 7500rpm but limited to 7500, did make 347rwkw on 19psi but pulled it back to 324, can make more power with new coils, more revs, better fuel and more money! :domokun:

oh hai guys, can i play.....303kw @ 17.5psi...

stock standard rb25, stock airbox, stock cam gears, stock manifolds..

That's a nice looking graph, is it an external gate?

Yeah, tial 44mm hanging of the turbine housing..

2 E85 outlets walking distance from my house now Alan, I feel so spoilt and the fuel feels great, the torque is like driving my little diesel Ute around, so much low down grunt..As an added bonus I just found out my adaptronic has switchable tunes. Its as simple as flicking a switch to change back to pulp..

lol @ knocking on rattles door, that was a good line.

wish sydney would hurry up and roll out the E85 too :(

Get a 200L drum and store it at your place? I have done that just because the nearest servo is 20mins away?

Not that i have a car finished yet so i can post in this thread like i promised a month ago :(

Mods: s1r33 3076r, external gate, poncams, 550's, uprated valvesprings.

Fuel: Bp 98

power: 307rwkw @ 20psi

useage: daily and track drifter

lifespan: 10 months at this level, 3 years with 270+

Failure: cracked ring no4 cyl, still drove fine just had a weird note from the exhaust

comments: had 270 for 2 years before failing after 10 months with 307, was about to upgrade to e85 but now will wait till I've rebuilt the engine

How many K's on the engine, what ECU, who tuned? (maybe relevant to the thread ;) )

let's leave who tuned them out of it as per sau guidelines.

a 300rwkw engine will let go eventually, especially with track usage and it's not fair to the tuners to be receiving bad press because of this.

old motors, over double the standard power, revving past redline :ninja:

Yeah sorry, bad question.... I wouldnt have been blaming anyone for a failure for the exact reason WMDC35 mentions..... Ill stay quiet now until i have a Dyno sheet of my own so i can join this thread properly

    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
    • Correct. Um. I dunno. I haven't cared enough about the way that the NA cars work to know for sure. But..... The 33/34 turbo manual cars have an electronic speed sensor in the gearbox that outputs a +/- (ie, sawtooth AC) voltage signal. That is connected to the speedo. The speedo then outputs a 0-5v square wave (ie, PWM) signal that the ECU (and any other CU on the bus) sees. The speed sensor is NOT directly connected to the ECU. So here's the problem. Your new ECU expects to see the PWM signal, but must somehow be getting a direct signal from the diff speed sensor. Which would suggest that the wiring of the NA car is not the same as the turbo cars. I think you will need to spend some time with (hopefully the wiring diagram for the car) and a multimeter to see what is connected to what. Then, presuming I am correct**, you would then want to separate the ECU speed signal input from the rest of the car's wiring, and probably either buy a speed signal converter, or build one using an arduino (or similar). That would take in the speed sensor signal and output a scaled (and suitably rearranged) signal for the ECU. ** We shouldn't presume that I am correct here, because there might be something else crazy going on. I don't think you could convert the speedo to be fed from the gearbox sensor, because the pulse rate from that sensor is probably different to the diff sensor and then the speedo would read wrongly. And this also wouldn't fix the ECU's problem either, because the ECU doesn't want to see the gearbox signal direct either (assuming that they are all on the same wiring, for some odd NA related reason, see above caveat!) Does this help? Probably not. Can you make it work? Almost certainly. With the above work. You should buy a handheld oscilloscope from Aliexpress so that you can view these signals directly. Connect up the probes and drive the car. Show photos of the screen when drving at known speeds and connected to different places, and we'll see what we can learn about it.
