Nice looking pipes mate !! Btw where did you source the R-tune intake snorkle and how much was it if you dont mind me asking?? I am in the same situation as you in that department and have opted to make a custom box around my pods with a modified snorkle dumping into the box

It wasn't cheap - just over $400 - I got it from nengun (RHDjapan also sells it). I um and erred about it for a few days as i couldn't find any results (besides the ones on the nismo website) but decided to grab it to give it a go. My intention is to run it back to back with the stock snorkle to see if there is any difference.

That's not a bad idea for a pod box - it would provide a nice cold air flow for them. The nismo intake might be a bit over priced for the function in this case and it may be better to grap a stock snorkle.

Mines also does an after market intake too - but this is carbon and about $900 from memory

The standard airbox is fine. Spend the money elsewhere.

Paul - Any idea what the stock airbox/snorkle is rougly good for - 350-400awkw was mentioned to me?

I've already bought it, so i guess i got a bit of nismo bling lol.

Ive personally made 426 on -5's on about 23 psi. Racepace have done 460ish on -5's using a R33 GTR airbox IIRC.

Sweet! should be all good then. Although, I guess i did waste my money a bit then  .

Your not the first and won't be the last to spend useless money especially on a GTR.. We are all guilty of that every now and then lol

Looks really good so fa, although unique my only dislike are the rims lol However I see thats on the to do list so all is good

Will be interesting to see what your feedback is like with that transfer case mod and 400+ kw

Lol thanks mate. Yeah the rims are a hate of mine aswell, but getting the engine and running gear sorted is the priority at the moment.

I'm pretty keen on a set of black te37sl, but we'll see.

I'll defiantly report my feelings about the tc mod once it's running.

Standard airbox is fine but sounds like shiet :P

Also interested in the transfer case mod as my box will most likely be coming off soon for a refurb might as well get the rest of the driveline sorted. Pm me also when you have some time :)

Update - Everybody loves a good head (job).

At the same time I bought the r-tune intake, I wasted some more money on useless parts and sent Paul this photo saying I’ve just added 20kw to the engine.

Paul jokingly made the mistake of sending me back photo’s of a port job he’d done on a customers’ wrx engine saying “so did I”.

I hadn’t planned to get any head work done, but I don’t plan on drinking 16,000 schooners when going down the pub either, sometimes these things just happen. So a phone call later and Paul spent the next few days porting my head…. Sorry Paul.

Port job – some of these were taken before polishing

I decided on VHT wrinkle red for the rocker covers. I was going to get the plenum done too, but decided against it. Not sure why. Also, the twin turbo pipe is just for show – The ARC piping kit replaces it.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
