As much as this is the FI section you have to agree this is where all the mech heads hang out.. nobody goes to the NA section to talk about building motors etc. That section is all about who has the best looking slow skyline.

a video thread is definitely cool.. like the dyno thread. This turbo setup will make you lol this hard.

I like the idea.

yeah dyno videos suck. seen one seen all. i dont even watch my own car on the dyno lol

I think a good reference video thread would be in car of the speedometer while driving on the street or track with a description of mods listed. Eg would be.. r34 gtr 2.8 -5 than you can compare with the next guy who has a standard -5 or -7. It would also make peoples choices easier who is thinking about -5 or -7 and you can compare the lag and how fast it builds revs ect

Yeah this is a good idea it will help those people make choice on what set up they want, if they arnt able to go for a drive in a car with a similar setup to get a feel for it. this will at least give them an idea of what it will be like.

Problem with this is if you have a decent after market ecu you can fudge the Tacho to make things look alot better than they really are, that also goes double when they show ecu data video captures for speed aswell..... Also put R32/33 GTR Front n rear diffs/gears in an R34 GTR like alot of Jap shops used to do and watch the speedo!!! Not to say way too many Dyno's DONT seem extremely generous, but IMO listening to a car on the DYNO once you hear "THAT NOISE" you know something special is on the rollers..... I think put any and all video's up, there's always gona be haters and admirers..

least give them an idea of what it will be like.

Why not go visit wasteland?

That way if some dick head decides to post something stupid ACA etc can't access without creating an account and finding the video.

Aka wasteland isn't viewable without a login.

I think this thread is just asking for trouble

But that's just my opinion

Nice video's guys.

I don't see how its asking for trouble if the video is of the speedometer? In video 2 its obvious he is at the track as well.

Feel free to move to appropriate section if you think its best though

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
