Finally made a bit of time to work on the car today. Only a small job but it's something ticked off (hopefully....).  I may still have to modify it which is the disadvantage of not doing it while the motor is in the engine bay. Lots easier to work on however!

My TIG welds are a bit iffy, can tell I haven't done much welding over the last 12 months. Relatively happy with how it turned out, I just hope it works once I plonk it in the car!

Engine is off the engine stand and onto my k-frame trolley. Works a treat!  So easy to move it around the shed. Once I finish what needs to be done to the gearbox I can bolt it to the engine and finish my little trailing jack dolley that supports the end of the gearbox and helps get the angles right for reinstallation.

Sexual manifold, dat split to the seat of the gate

Yeah its purdy. Bloody New Zealanders know how to make shit (as do plenty of Aussies).  NZ plays a very big part in my motor for no deliberate reason- sump, inlet manifold,  exhaust manifold, rocker cover fittings, plus some other little bits.

Turbo oil drain fits around the engine mount which is sweet!  Was a touch worried my measurements may be off but all good.

The flex pipe section is from Aeroflow, the stainless is just 19mm (3/4”) stainless, 2 AN10 stainless weld on fittings welded to each end of the stainless tube, 45 degree swivel fitting onto the block adapter and then an Aeroflow bolt on fitting to the turbo plus associated AN fittings to join it all together!  So in other words it’s a handful of random bits and pieces with a bit of welding, bending and head scratching to make it all come together!

I’ll be firing up the welder I like that better than the braided steel drain line. Not to mention I’m only 10an a little small for turbo drain.

Sweet, good to hear!

As much as we all love to hang shit on the Kiwis I do love them! Some amazing fabricators and tradespeople over there and God do they love thrashing cars!

I've travelled to NZ itself multiple times and travelled with a few Kiwis overseas and had a ball with them. They're similar to Aussies but wierder! 😂😂

Mate, that is coming up a treat, very clean.
what gearbox did you end up going with? You were looking a gearset options weren’t you?

Cheers mate. Unfortunately its a long time between treats...

Ended up sticking with the Speedtek gearset despite much (understandable) pressurenot to. Interesting to note that despite all the negativity around them, they really seem to be kicking goals at the moment. They're pumping out some fairly diverse products now.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
