For every ones info. I replaced the V Spec II sticker on my car, with a genuine Nissan sticker. It was super expensive, but aside from that, the sticker is shaped to match the corner of the back boot like a template. This means that you can use the corners and edges of the boots to get the sticker in the exact factory position. Pretty sweet. I was surprised.

Just checked my spare sticker (my original is just showing a tiny amount of peel on one corner....) - you are right - how clever of them......

Cheers

PS That Edward Lee Video should be pinned somewhere as a "must see" for anyone who ever considers buying a car from that guy, with annotations about all the misleading statements.......

Good luck this weekend Bob! :D At the very least I'm sure you will have fun!

Yep had fun but my times were ..........OK????????

My best 1/4 mile was 13.399 (slip attached) but my best terminal speed was 178.94 kph a couple of runs later (111mph).

With that speed I should have been well into the 12's but my 0-30' times are horrible.

I just can get it off the line. I tried it in 2WD mode by pulling the fuse but that was worse!!!!!!

I just sat there and smoked the tyres.:closedeyes::closedeyes::closedeyes::closedeyes:

Anyway, I flogged a few of my mates in stock HSV's and GT Falcons (mid to low 14"s)!

Cheers,

Bob.

Its all in tyre pressure Bob. Need to be 15psi from memory, can't remember exactly but it's a super low pressure.

Once that is set, 2nd gear burn out in rwd mode then flick to awd, on the limiter and release the clutch...when it hooks up you will be shocked what g's these cars can pull on take off.

Mine did a flat 13 when it was stock as a rock...won't get much better than that although I've heard they run a PB 12.8

Thanks Marko,

Modern Motor (April 1990 issue) ran a 13.1 stock........ That's the best I've seen in any publication. Most run around 13.7.

My tyres were set at 27psi for the fronts and 22 psi for the rears...... Guess I stuffed up on that one.

I normally run them at 34 and 30 on the road.

Was pleased with the terminal speed though.

Bob.

At 111mph it's not stock and probably making closer to 270kw at the wheels and should be doing flat 12s or even into the 11s

100% correct........ Unigroup dyno'd it at 271.6 rwkw.

Bob.

what is not stock on the car Bob?

Bar the exhaust, (3.5" front Pipe, 3" Hi Flow Cat, 3.25 Rear pipe, 3 and Hiflow rear muffler) everything you CAN'T see.......

  • Nistune
  • Sard 720cc injectors
  • Lager Walbro fuel pump
  • HKS Boost Controller
  • Splitfire coils
  • Excedy HD Clutch

nice. The Walbro pump is not to noisy?

nice. The Walbro pump is not to noisy?

No....... The exhaust must drone it out!

A mate of mine had a Brock Commodore VK Group A that was tricked up with a Walbro pump and that was horrendously noisy so I know what you mean.

That's still very respectable, and at least you had fun... that's the main part!

How were you launching the car Bob? These things need a little tough love from the start line, you might feel bad in doing it but it's what she's made for :) There's absolutely more to be had from your car, your 60 foot time of 2.1s could come down to 1.6 to 1.8 seconds with a bit of practice - I'm not a drag racing expert by any stretch of the imagination but that little bit shaved off the front end often seems to translate to a larger amount shaved off at the other end.

Well done in any event, at least you came out the winner against the HSVs and FPVs! :)

  • 1 month later...

So just an update on my gtr,

Installed new timing belt, HKS cam gears, water pump etc,

Bought a power fc and some hks 550cc injectors.

I had a second hand apexi avcr so I just used the boost solenoid and wiring and converted it to my power fc.

Got the car back from the tuner today and made 265kw's on 1.1bar boost!

Pretty happy and the car feels a hell of alot more alive than before!

Hey guys,

I've been off sau for a year or two. Sure we used to have another rare register with a good record of vpsecs and n1s? I'm probably just lost tho, lol.

Anyway adding for the community, in Brisbane with a 1994 Vspec II N1. Unfortunately not very standard! :-)

Cheers

Michael

Fortunately, Australia has acquired 2x BNR32 V-Spec II N1 in recent times.

Congratulations to you Michael as well.

We'd like to grab them before Canada's timeline permits...

Last six digits on mine are -311603

It's still awaiting compliance.

    • GTSboy, thank you again. i’ve been reading all the other SAU RB25 vacuum line threads and you have the utmost patience for people asking “where do my vacuum lines go”. it’s appreciated. i did also enlist a few other RB guys local to me.  i would like to run 5 to 4. turbo pressure side to wastegate actuator. i would like to run 3 to 1. power steering air valve line to intercooler outlet. (this is how it was previously). i was told 2 is the bleed port for the boost solenoid - which i’m not running - so should be capped.   anyone see any problems with that?
    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
    • Should have asked what is the car?
    • I've had two super conflicting experiences with blue slips. My 30 year old E39 waltzed through with no issues but my brother in law was knocked back on 12 y/o 3 series due to wiper blades and some cracking in a control arm bush.  What kind of coil overs? Do you want to keep them after?  If it was me I'd get some dirt cheap shocks and springs from eBay or scumtree. Not ideal but will get you over the line and might even be less than $1k.
