4wd or 2wd? 4wd is trickier as the oil pick up has to be moved to clear the front drive shaft in the sump

For 2wd presumably nothing is required; or rather it depends on what you want done beyond a basic clean and hone, same as any other build.

Yeah, just let CRD worry about it, they have done it many times before and will do it many times again

To actually fit the Nitto 3.2 to a RB30 block is a bore and hone and a line bore for the crank and assemble, many inlarge the head bolt holes to 12mm, i didn't do that as not 100% neccasary, what takes time is as Duncan said getting it to suit the 4WD application

I am just trying to get an idea of what has to be done and how long will it take to have the block modified for a R34GTR, the car has been in the shop for 3 weeks and has not been touched.

It was booked in 4 months ago, all of the parts were at the shop 3 months ago and paid for, so I am just a bit disappointed that I took the car in when I could have been driving it, but I should not be too surprised after reading many build threads, I am just not used of dealing with performance shops and they seem to work on lots of cars at the same time.

It is like being a kid again and waiting for Xmas :(

I think that is poor form, they can quite easily build the bottom end ready for you to bring car in, transfer oil pump water pump, fit 4WD adaptor and sump and head then put back in car

It's why I don't pay in full before car is done, half yeah sure but never full cause what incentive have they got to finish it if they have been fully paid already

I was going to give them more $s but I could not get an answer to my emails and thought stuff you!

There is a shit load with the drive line, Transfer case mods, Quaife front diff and the Clutch to be done.

He said it is motor work time next week, whatever that meant, I thought that was their main work, haha

Stuff it, my kids are out so I think I will head to the restaurant and sit on my ever increasing fat and let the look after me

I have to say they have done everything they said on 2 other occasions and probably will do it again, they are pretty nice blokes there, it is just so frustrating waiting and nothing seems to be getting done

Isn't this something your engine builder should already know?

Sure, it is something "they" know,BUT "I" don't?

These questions have nothing to do with my build, I would just like to get an idea from some of you blokes that have been doing this for a long time and have done it first hand or been able to see it as it was being done

I look at these motors with all of the electronics and everything else and it makes my head hurt and I understand just how good these blokes are.

I know from making things if you are in a workshop with all right men for different jobs, plus all of the professional tools and machinery it is SO much easier than stuffing around trying to do the same thing at home by yourself, no matter how good you are.

If a workshop has all of the parts needed to do a complete stroker build, pull the motor out, parts out to be machined and back in, how long would that take.

In my case, there is the driveline , clutch, mods to trannie and a quaife front diff to be fitted. I would imagine doing all of this at the same time would save time while the motor is out?

I figured that if the total build could not be done within a month , 240 odd hours in a specialized workshop, there is something wrong .

I know they work on other cars during the same period, but what if they did not and had an open go at it. A week or 2 if they had priority on getting outside work done?

Tap hole for new idler.

5 minutes

Mod oil pickup.

10 minutes?

Surely there is more to it than that?

How long for a build under normal conditions or is that like asking how long is a piece of string.

Actually there might be clearancing for the stroker crank, but that's typical for a stroker build.

The 2 things I listed are the only additional things to building it as an rb2630, aside from the mods to make it fit, adaptor plate, slot bell housing, slot engine mounts, modify dump pipe, turbo oil drain, maybe cooler pipework.

How long a build takes depends on how much other stuff they are doing....

apart from the Nitto 3.2 stroker, there is a bit of head work, head relief for the cams, OS valves and clean it up a bit.

But doing driveline work.

If they do this work as good as the other mods they did for me I will be very happy and I know they are proud of what they do and expect nothing but the best from their blokes there :)

I just did not expect to be this impatient, I cannot wait to get it back :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Here we are 5 weeks since I put my car in for the work and it sits there getting a nice coat of dust, haha

The Fn block is still not ready !

I believe this is a normal situation in the world of Mods, don't like it very much

5 weeks - Pffft !

Unless your very special then you have several more months to wait.

Time and Money It's never what you were expecting/quoted.

Have you ever had a house built ? If you have I bet that was ready at least 3 months after you were expecting.

Sinista = Sinister I think, thanks for that I feel much better knowing that, haha

I think I liked it better being treated like a mushroom.

I am special, if they take too long I might drop dead and they will not get paid, lol

My Build took 9 months. Expect to wait a lot longer man.

Oh Fark!

I would rather go and pick the car up if that was the case, BUT unlike you sceptical blokes , I have faith in them :whistling:

Tony, Tried to get a better look at your donk but cannot open the photos up ?

    • Had another look at the car and I noticed the fuel pump isn't priming on ignition. I'd taken out the pump from the boot to siphon out the old fuel, so maybe I've knocked something loose or broken a wire putting things back together. Will go back with a multimeter and try to work out what's stuffed. Kinda hoping it's the pump itself thats gone so I can upgrade it
    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
