Epic weekend. Scruinteering consisted of handing over a form in exchange for a sticker, have never seen that before.

Even with all those cars PIARC still moved through the groups at a rapid pace.

Good to see everyone around.

I hate two moments during the day, which in the end damaged the front splitter.

This on I was a little disappointed about as it could have been avoided with a little more consideration from the other car.

Chris and I were just crusing around on a cool down waiting for a gap, then blamb!

Woweee

Looks he just got in front of you then smashed the brake pedal lol

The day was fantastic, well worth the drive from Geelong, what an eye opener it was, good to get an insight before completely jumping into the deep end, hope to be entered in round 3. I got some photos, nothing fancy just lots of skyrice :)

HA!

skyrice :)

I had an alright day in the end with battling mechanical issues on the day but still managed to set a fairly respectable time of 1:56.6. Was slower than my PB but was still good to get back out there and have some fun.

Looking forward to Round 2 and hopefully the car will be sorted properly by then. :)

I didn't do many laps, spent most of the time socialising.

The good lap that I did get in was a 1.44.4

Agreed... Totally stupid.

Was that Madden behind you as well Richo? Looks like he got put well out of place as well...

Could've easily been two cars fairly well destroyed because of nothing other than a total dick move.

Yeh Chris saw what was happening and bailed wide just in-case and went straight through the corner.

All the guy had to do was keep his inside line.

From natsoft I can see 23 SAU vic members, do we have any other SAU members who put themselves down under another club?

Yeah me! :)

I think I was in under PSCRV membership as I had that most handy at the time.

Sadly I didn't get a flying lap on Sunday (only Blaise got a session) but had a blast on Sat in the new little machine. Will be back out again soon.

 Really happy I missed this one!

Haha if it makes you feel any better John, I don't have any GoPro footage to rub it in! But I'm sure the other guys can make up for it ;)

Actually I do! Damn GoPro battery died as I rounded the final corner on my next best lap (1:52.1504 vs 1:52.1412 so close enough!). A 51 seems so close...

Well I've had a lot of practice, that was my 13th day at the Island in 1.5yrs :D

Google Nexus wireless charger. Nexus 5 has metal discs in the chassis and charger has the magnets. Hasn't moved in daily driving, reefton runs or track.

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
