FIIIIIIIInally got the car tinted. why i didn't do that before summer i do not know.

anyway when they guys were tinting it they found that the top of the window was no longer sealing.

i knew the rubber was coming up, but the actual sealant between the window and glass has failed. water would be coming through it this winter OR, it would pop out... that would not be coos as its a genuine wiperless window and irreplaceable.

top ruber just falling away, would not reseat at all.

bottom edgings are shit aswell.

i plan to paint the car or at least roof at some point so i will be ordering a full set of genuine rubbers, seals and surrounds at that point, but for now i just need to make it functional.

window out, quick rust check, there are a couple of little spots but nothing that cant wait untill the proper paint.

this is the corner that failes, rust spot

We cleaned it all up and put some treatment on it and resealed it all up properly.

new seal

un sure what i want to do at the base, i have ran the seal under the old metal frames, i will be re-using these when i get genuine seals, but for now i have just left the tabs overlapping the new rubber, the only way it can be blended and sealed without genuine bits. it will do for now.

the little misfire reared it ugly head again, so i decided to rip open the afms,

the solder looked fine tbo, didn't seem cracked or loose.

but i re soldered them anyway, i honestly added the smallest amount of solder, and resealed them back up.

this is a shit job, cutting away sealant and trying to reseal them without it looking shit house.

but yeah, misfire completely gone, so happy when simple things work.

haha, yeah their allot easier to tint without the wiper too :)

Flex fuel... maby, not for now.

remembering im still running a stock motor, stock turbos, stock injectors....for now.

pulled the spark plugs out for new ones, they are about 2+years old and looked healthy which is nice.

Josh at forge was nice enough to get me the haltech so we hooked it up. its got the tune from his stock gtr so it was drivable, feels sharper already, it will be booked in for a tune with Garage7 to get it up and boogieing. then I will look at new turbos-dumps-fuel pump-injectors - maby a new cam - yada yada... at that point I will look into flex.

it is no longer a daily so I can deal with the availability and added maintenance, so I should...

must resist using antilag with stock turbos :P

im very interested in the tune difference with the same boost from stock computer to the haltech. im not expecting more highend realistically but keen on the midrange. I will report back once its done to compare.

Thanks man,

I'm eagerly awaiting a time i can get it into Garage7 for a proper tune, very keen to drive it finally knowing it has a proper tune. Up until now it has had its MINES ecu, while it had the 8000rmp rev limit on the box you just never know what its actually tuned for. like I said im not expecting more power specifically as I will essentially be running the same boost (depending of the AFRs it yields) of about 12-13 psi.

It made 258 rwkw last time which was quite respectable for stock everything except exhaust and pods.

im more hoping for the midrange and the sharpness and general driveability without being a rich pig like it was, and of course having the safety features the HALTECHs have so I can give it more without worrying so much.

just waiting for a booking now.....

damn tune had to be moved to the 10th .... damn Anzac day deleted my day off which I didn't realise.... le sigh...

maby I should take this time and put a fuel pump injectors and a cam in it...................... you know...... for good measure...

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
