Anyone going to the meet tonight at the docklands?

Was planning on it for a bit, but a more attractive offer may have popped up.

Will probably be at Fountain Gate meet later in the night later

Fountain gate: https://www.facebook.com/events/1243674532313961/

but leigh, you aint allowed at that one. thems the rules.

Also, just saw the traffic on the monash city-bound. f**k. that. road works has started. like 30kms of grid lock. will say no to docklands meet.

I ended up going to the docklands meet....not many skylines there!! Probably four in total. There were a million VW Golf's though.

jdm import car scene is slowly ending in my opinion. Seeing as majority are turbo and restricted from P-platers.

There is a move towards VW's/86's/euro cars which seem to be all the rage now amongst P-platers.

Sad but true.

Sad but true.

the JDM boom occurred during the 2000's and all those kids from that era are now in their 20-30's.

No appealing imports have come after that era, apart from some v36's, stagea's, vip luxobarges, to catch their attention.

The last appealing car would have to be the 34GTR, but as everyone climbs the career ladder, the higher the price will go up.

The event did mention "presented by Skylines Australia - Vic" so I would have expected a slightly larger turnout! :yucky:

It was a good night though. Heaps of cars and a good crowd. Police were doing breath tests and didn't really hassle anyone. I left and there were two highway patrols sitting outside just making sure no one was silly.

The only dickhead there was a P plater ford driving around the car park revving his engine like a tool.

Funnily enough there was an event at the same car park last week which was aimed towards a younger crowd I guess, I went along with a mate and as soon as we got into the car park there was an EL ford on fire hahaha.

Side note - last night there was one of those new Merc C63's (V8 Bi-turbo). f**k me they sound so good.

So you may as well have been in peak hour traffic anywhere in Melbourne

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
