would also comment that FIFO complain lots...but considering that I am currently doing teaching of IT via FIFO...

meh the beers are good.

I can't comment on things I'm not familiar with, but I think this is a combination of 2 things:

1) Teachers union asking for a mile to try and secure a few inches.

2) people having an expectation of hard work = high pay.

Unfortunately for teachers, there are just SO many of them. I meet a lot of young people starting their working careers and have never met a teacher who wasn't working. Everyone else struggling to secure a meaningful job for months or years while teachers somehow seem to get work, like nurses. Maybe it has to do with uni placement and making contacts?
Or is it because hospitals and schools are necessary items semi-funded by the government and don't have the pressures of global markets and investors breathing down staff's necks? Schools don't even have management, it's just administration and the principal/vice. Teaching is up to the teachers and the content/requirements are dictated by bodies outside of the schook

Flat organization hierarchy = little opportunity for career progression besides standard payrises. When a teacher gets to ten years, if they don't secure a role in admin there is no further payrise based on their experience/growth, only indexed payrises.

It comes down to unions and strength in numbers = greater leverage. Most all humans feel entitled to what they can get and would do the same shit if we all had unions telling us we can get more / are worthy of a pay rise if we band together and do x. People don't like dealing with confrontation by themselves and there is a greater risk of losing by putting your single job on the line, having to negotiate by yourself, rather than hundreds/thousands at once. Teachers, like nurses and paramedics also have a unique leverage in that an organisation can shut down because of industrial action and pick up where it left off when it finishes. Children with career parents can't be babysat easily and patients in need of care need just that.

My problem with unions is it averages out the skill level into a single representation and assumes that all of them deserve a uniform pay rise including shitkickers. If individual office workers tried to negotiate by themselves the shitkickers would get laughed out of the room. Google the "better than average effect" for interesting psych studies on teachers where most will say they are better than average when this is literally inpossible.

It just goes around in circles.. teachers.. paramedics.. fireys..

Agree with your birds that they shouldn't all be thrown into the same basket, the ones that are actually good at what they do deserve more $ etc.

On another note, like 50% or more of people I know starting uni or still doing it right now are studying teaching at the moment :O

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
