the thing is they are just so easy to steal,

newer ones actually take some skill

whats with the work car park, cameras? open air?

was it jsut drive past and go oh that's an easy one, or targeted

no idea how I was so lucky for so long had mustang parked on street in Brunswick for 3-4 years when I first got it (still remember going to see Gone in 60 seconds at crown with it parked in the multi story below going..hmm is it still going to be there)  S14 was on street all it's daily life alternating between work in south melb and home in newport..

guess eastern suburbs are just dodgier.

Open air work carpark with cameras, you can't see my car from the street, so someone has seen me drive in or wandered through the carpark looking for targets. Or someone who works here has tipped someone.

They don't really care where, anytime and any place.

Birds, buy a R34 sedan, noone will ever attempt to look at it, let alone steal it.

I get wistful happy thoughts every time I park in a carpark somewhere, but alas, no bites.

are you getting camera footage pulled? or they just don't care.

Bit of both combined with my own apathy

I've seen the footage before from the last time this happened, it really isn't useful, certainly not for identifying people. It will only show me if another car was driven in or if they came on foot in hoodies as they do. If there's a car or a clear image I'll give to police but otherwise it's a waste.

Put a old go pro in, turn off the recording red light and face it toward the driver door point out the window from suction cap and plug it in to the car to charge it when you drive, replace SD card every few days to clear it. Catch their face = win?

well you could add security and add preformance at same time...

set up a set of these suckers to the alarm and a bottle of NOS.

tasty BBQ when come back to the car plus a bit extra off the lights when needed.

Win Win

I could go with the old trick of a strip of thumbtacks under the door handle, leaving a small spot for a finger to get under there safely

Protip if you really, really hate someone - paint stripper under the door handle is not a nice thing to grab hold of

Speaking of parking, got 3 parking tickets in November (only finding out about them a few weeks ago because they had flown or were removed from the car) when parking at Essendon Airport long term. I called up the council saying I have receipts, why was I fined so many times? they said "we have photos here of your car with no ticket displayed" "that's because it's a ticketless parking system in the long term area!" goddamn inspectors are muppets. They must have fined every person in the car park.

They’re probably reading this thread and are now anticipating the thumb tacks

Hopefully they also anticipate me choking them out so I don't have to go to jail

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
