Your plan sucks.

ps. Thanks for not being TOO direct in your answer/opinion(that's me taking the piss now). A simple "maybe not a good idea" or "too costly" would have been sufficient. Edited by MR PHATT

Thanks for the tip.

My thoughts are this atm=import clean r34 gtt-auto, mod to the max, if still having issues with trans box by start of 2016 then convert to manual. Any thoughts? I know manual conversion is pain in the a$$, but any one have price estimate?

This is literally the worst idea on the forum in terms of start to finish

I'm going fishing, should I get a manual reel or an auto? And what should I catch?

PHATT you shouldn't ask ppl to help you plan, you should have a plan and then see what is wrong with it.

I'd be more concerned about turbo, IC, computer, dump/exhaust, injectors, pump, brakes, suspension, etc etc...........Theres $10K in that alone.

Your a long way away from maxing out a GTT in manual or auto TBH. Work at the basic things and get them sorted first.

No wonder they are razzing you, its these sort of threads that make their day.

true & thanks

Ok, ok, guys I know I went a bit off track & probably deserve a bit of s$&t stirring at the end, haha. I'm bidding on car later tonight(think manual) & have another in Vic I'm viewing(auto) on w/e. Both gtt. Going back to my original question=I just wanted to know if autos & manuals had similar hp capabilities, yes Ben & Hadouken "Mod to the max" capabilities haha? To help me decide which one

This is literally the worst idea on the forum in terms of start to finish

as soon as I posted that last idea I regretted it, was bad idea. Now knowing you have 400rwkw auto, & how much you've spent, I know not good idea at all

It's very easy to poke fun and have a lols at others who are just starting out and asking (what to more ... learned posters) can be silly questions

When the truth is you're likely just enthusiastic and excited and looking starry-eyed into the future of a nice well sorted high HP enjoyable skyline

well, let my jaded, aged eyes be the voice of reason and say OH SHIT SON BUY A f**kING MANUAL.

Better yet, buy someone else's project.

The way you're going about it is all wrong, has nothing to do with auto or manual.

Cheers Kinkstaah. I am excited & realised I am jumping the gun. Was just so happy to sell N/A 34 & jump in to turbo. I understand it's a long (& expensive) road now.Taking all on board, thanks. Ps. Last import looked I had to say no as had a Nismo S tune body kit(did no like front bar) & big ass wing, was disappointed. I am now looking at others projects also.

At least you're selling the N/A and getting a turbo.

Do the smart thing and read read read. There's a clear upgrade path almost everyone follows on a long enough timeline.

Going to that point directly will save you many tens of thousands of dollars and years of labor and pain.

It could be argued that no one would do that/see the value in it until they've already done it the hard way once first though.

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
