Turbo Options?

Recommended Posts

Iv been scrambling through the forums to find my best turbo choice for my R33.

Im running a forged RB25 with pon cams mild head work N1 oil pump FMIC and other supporting mods like full exhaust head gasket bearings coil packs AFM apexi ECU etc.

I had a high mount with a T04z greedy FF plenum and was making 653HP at the rears untill i got flagged into a RBT and ended up with a canary and living 7 hours away from the closest emissions testing center makes is hard to engineer as i work 6 days a week aswell so im toning it down abit to make it streetable with no red and blue lights behind me.

Iv sold the FF plenum and the hotside setup but im wanting opinions on a smaller turbo choice but i still want awesome responce and i still want power up untill the 8k RPM..

Here is my choices im choosing from at the moment.

-GTX3071r

-Hiflow my STD turbo

-GTX3582r

What do you guys think of these choices and any other turbo options u guys think is suitable as im after about 250-300rwKW and trying to keep the engine looking standard as iv already been pulled over 3 times in a month since its bsck on the road lol.

T51r

T51r is basically the same as the T04z i had and its not really a bolt on turbo either.. my t04z was at full boost around 4200rpm and it wasnt to responsive down low like i want now

Read the thread and I'm sure 100% of peeps with one is over the moon with theirs.

Not quite, but who's counting...

Unfortunately bagging a forum trader's product is not allowed no matter how many times you have issues with it, or how you are treated, so you will likely only see one side on here Grant.

You are missing the GTX3076 there, I think the 71 may drop off a little in the top end, but a .82 rear on a 76 might be perfect, especially if you externally gate the turbo or stock manifold.

Are you planning to run e85? That would change things... The GTX3076 is good for 400kw on e85.

Thanks scotty ill look into it.. i didnt look at it but i will check it out now..

My thoughts are the 3582r will be to laggy downlow and the 3076 sound good

What im aiming for is a response and power through to about 8k rpm.. the KW ill be happy with 250 even but im wanting 600-700nm out of it as iv had big HP cars but they are useless.. can only go 100kph and il love to leave anything behind up to the 200kph..

I've been a trader on this forum for 7 years and been recommended by many for good reasons. We don't compete on this forum through bagging out other traders.

For around 250rwkws application, high flow of factory turbocharger will do the job, it bolt up to factory spot, looks standard and that is more responsive then any of the GT30 or GT35 options. We have a big evaluation and discussion thread which covering different aspects of RB25det modifications as well as development in Rb turbochargers. Thread is indexed on page 1, and packed with member's results, feedbacks and options.

We move a good number of Garrett turbos, and will be able to supply at a very competitive pricing. For any of the GTX range apart from GTX3071 is not recommended as a responsive option or to run internal gate with. You are welcome to give us a call or send in a PM for recommendations and latest pricing.

Also missing the GTX3576 ... spool/response is nearly-ish the same as a GTX3076 but it will make more up top.

To find good comparisons, look on the NAISOC forums... heaps of testing back to back on GTX3076 vs. GTX3576

I'm using Hypergear's SS2 in a .82 rear with a Nissan front cover making 297rwkws at 20psi full boost by 3800rpm. factory appearance, and completely bolt on.

Does this require a spacer plate between the flange and do standard water lines bolt up?
