Wasn't me, but a close relation....

On November 22nd 2018, I put an order for a GTX3576R Gen 2 supercore from Sparesbox.

Sparesbox then went all quiet for about 3 weeks, I then contacted them and they advise there will be a delay (thanks for telling me anything). Due to the lack of communication, they offered me a $35 voucher. Sure whatever, it's end of the year not like I'm going to work on my car anyhow lol

Fast forward a few weeks, Pxxx (trying to hide names) called me and she advised me GCG (their supplier) is unable to provide me the turbo bought, so the alternative was to bump me up to a GTX3582R Gen 2. A bit hesitant at first, I eventually agreed to go a tad bigger.

So, last week I received a package on Friday, excited I opened it and look what arrived ?‍♂️20190113_112207.thumb.jpg.06d94d86fd246bbb9bbc2a8723a2b1ce.jpg

So yeah, I got what I wanted nearly 2 months ago, but... I've ordered a 0.83 housing because I thought I was getting a GTX3582R Gen 2 not a GTX3576R Gen 2. If I was definitely getting a GTX3576R Gen 2, it would be a 1.01 housing not a baby 0.83.

So f you Sparesbox.

Well... You said you wanted more response for skid pans. Maybe they heard you and this is they're way of helping you out.

When are skid vids of gtx3576 gen2 goodness scheduled?

After Spool Imports decide to actually identify the gears I installed are theirs. The idiot sales guy said the gears I put in aren't Spool Import gears ?‍♂️

Was your reply, “then whose gears did you sell me?”

Nope, sent a photo of the gears from new.

No response today... sigh, should have bought a M4.

I waited almost 6 months for sparesbox to supply my EFR6758 and it was an absolute f**k around. I only paid $1900 for it. Ended up cancelling because they told me it would be a 9 month wait from that point (at the end of the 6 months). Cancelled the order and they refunded the money with no voucher or anything.

Purchased 6758 the next day for ~$2800

Sparesbox ring me the week later saying they just got their order in. I said ill take it still because it was so cheap. They don't agree to the $1900 that i was supposed to pay (was purchased during a sale) and want to charge me $3k

f**k sparesbox

that's f**ked, and so obvious that they were doing everything they can to get out of honoring that sale price. I'd be reporting that shit to the ACCC

Guess I'm the odd man out.

I've only had good dealings with SparesBox.

However, I've only been buying basic service and repair items - with the exception of a billet girdle which they had a killer price on and shipped in good time.

Can they swap the rear housing for you?

Ordered it through someone else, worked out cheaper.

Trying to see if I can exchange

So.. some updates, returned the 0.83 for a credit note and will be using that towards a turbo drain, lines/fitting kit, etc.

Also ordered the 2nd revision of Spool Import gears, hopefully it doesn't need to come out again.

Lastly, come to an agreement with Sparesbox, they're doing their best to rectify the poor experience and making it up to be by shopping a rear housing at a reduced cost.

Guess that worked out ok, just in time for CNY.

    • There are black hose clamps as well if you care. Plazmaman for example sells some: https://plazmaman.com/product/black-hose-clamps-premium-quality-stainless-breeze/
    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
