So a lot has happen since my last post from upgrading parts blowing and replacing the head gasket fitting a new link g4x ecu and all the sensors with a flex fuel tune to come I look forward to posting more on my build progress here !

First off I decided to give the car a run at my local drag strip on an open test and tune ran great for the most part with a best time of 13.3sec 1/4mile and a 2.2sec 60footer  I was getting a lot of axle tramp and not a lot of grip, after many passes I noticed my gear stick slightly on the right side and hitting my park brake I suspected engine/tranny mounts were shot.

I attempted to adjust the coil overs and found they were seized in position I have taken all corners apart completely and rebuilt my coilovers along with replacing the old crusty LCA’s with adjustable Hardrace parts also upgraded my brakes to a slotted style rotor and gave my callipers a fresh coat of paint still need a wheel alignment but wow this made a difference in handling and the all round feel on road.

Done some research on here about axle tramp and here’s something that worked for me, I ordered some rear subframe collars from gkteck and after fitting them the rear end was tight and the tramp issues I had under hard acceleration/launching were pretty much non existent.

So I had planned on upgrading my ecu for a while and ended up pulling the trigger, I put in my order along with all my sensors that I required for the setup as well as running a flex fuel tune 98/E85 blend along with a 24tooth trigger sprocket to help with rpm readings, all was going well but upon a leak down test and running the car the company I had gone with and myself had realised white smoke we checked the cylinders and found cyl 6 had a possible head gasket leak with both oil and coolant entering the cylinder.. oh no 🤦‍♂️

I ended up trying to save a bit of money as I had just invested into the computer and other parts so I decided to setup a spot in the garage and get to pulling the head off this was a great experience learnt a lot about my motor and got to clean up slot of the engine bay along the way !

When I removed the head it was a perfect time to change the engine mounts which I found completely to disconnected to the chassis lol 😅 I replaced the engine mounts with hardrace and also used a solid gkteck transmission mount.

I went with a Gates timing belt kit, genuine water pump and thermostat and also decided to replace my a/c compressor as the pulley was seizing up and making a lot of noise.

probably a lot I missed but just received the new crank pulley today and should be able to finish the assembly this week and be able to take it for it’s new tune ! Can’t wait to find out what she makes and to go for a drive thanks for reading if you made it this far.

edit: Also fitted some type M skirts and modified a wrx front lip to suit the gtst front bar still need to get skirts painted.

nice bit of progress there mate! M Spec skirts really finish the car off,

are the skirts and rear pods from KMAK Aero? whats the fit like of the pods?

Thanks mate looking forward to what’s next, yeah the kit is from KMAK pretty happy with the quality and fitment one small air bubble in the skirts that chipped away where they hadn’t pushed the glass into the corner of the mold but a easy fix with a bit of filler, most the mounting holes lined up with the oem guard liner screws with the exception of a few extras I drilled out underneath also one on the pod corner to pull the gap in could have used a adhesive but wanted a solid fit (:

cool thats good to hear, im holding out for some oem plastic ones, but may have to bite the bullet and get fibreglass!

Ok guys been a minute but thought id update my post.

I ended up getting the head on after my head gasket failed on me and all was great for a few months and then i heard it… a nocking noise coming from the motor bottom end bearing spun i am yet to look into the motor to give it a more in depth inspection but going through my link i had a oil pressure drop anf i think this is the cause.

Anyway i ended up snagging a reconditioned long block to throw in and start fresh i just pulled the motor today and am dressing everything up to go back in going to try tody up as much as the engine bay as possible to make it a little cleaning along with a new intake plenum from otaku garage, i will be fabricating new intercooler piping to suit.

Enjoy the photos this new motor looks badass 😄

@DaymoR32 100% mate i done some research before going with this one, i think a few brands sell them of as there own and yeah the face of the flange is not the best can see marking from the tool used

also a few bits in the kit like the head of the bolts for iac valve were to big for the countersunk holes and did not sit inside the mating face of the flange only a problem for neo’s as far as I’m aware

other than that looks great full peno on welds and apparently otaku garage pressure test each plenum but not sure how true that is hopefully holds 20psi with no issues 🤞🏼

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
