Hey,

My dad told me that 2night on channle 7, they had a thing about the hooning laws. Basicly they said they start this saturday (so everyone drive carfully). Also he said that the ONLY car they pick of was a SKYLINE, a yellow r34 with no wing (if u people remember it was doing a burnout).

so its something like 1st time 24hrs, 2nd time 3months and 3rd time, they take your car away from you.

IM still abit confused about the 3rd time, i dont see how the government/police can just take away a car that you pay for , for some reason it doesnt seam legal to me, also wat happens if you are not the owner of the car you just happen to be hooning in it, can they still do the following things to the car?

And what does "hooning" mean?

I guess those are the 3 questions i would really like answers

mike

i agree steve, i think that alot of people will try and run :) which isnt a good thing.

Im just worried if they dont state wat hooning is, is it left up to the polices and if they arnt having a good day cuz be real dickheads and say u were hooninh

Minister's Office - 9213 6600 .....hmmm

haha ..*ring ring* "uhh hello minister? is your refridgerator running? "

This stinks - shame they didnt do a public poll to see if they share the opinions of the rest of the community. As much as people dislike "hoons" im sure many would have seen this as an unreasonable solution.

"Interpretation" of hooning is definately a worry. It seems to me to be a sub section of dangerous driving, they have just enabled police to confiscate cars as punishment.

Police have always been able to use the dangerous driving line to get people for taking off at lights too quickly.

Don't know what my point is, only that I think it would have to be some pretty major offence for them to enact this new law, if you are going to be an idiot on the road, accept the consequences. I think most of us have more respect for our cars than to treat them like 'hoons' treat their cars.

Good tyres are expensive, as are replacement turbos, engines...

And lives are priceless.

If you want to hoon, go to a race track.

the definition of 'hooning' is definitely debatable...

i read that link too, what do they mean by 'forfeited'? very vague... they cant just take it off u can they? what, we have to buy the car back, pay some fine, yellow sticker, etc etc...???

i'm lucky my car isnt souped up enough (yet..?) to do that much harm...

anyone wanna sell me a police scanner / radio etc? :)

SEXZILA agrees :)

i cam very close the other day - got caught doing 39kms hour over the limit. Its suprisingly how easy it is ...... and the copper was hiding in someones front yard in an unmarked car behind their bush ..... hmmm and that isnt revenue raising.

**mumbles underbreath**

i cant ****ing believe that this shit is happening

such a ****ing joke

this is horrendous hey

such acts as accelarating and braking... what

so just braking can get your car conviscated..

why cant we look to europe for some guidance on how to handle the roads

take off the road, women who decide to pay attention in the rear view mirror at 7am putting make up on, people who are eating and drinking, talking on phones, smsing, getting head (lets leave that one), people who are too scared to drive 60 or 50 or 40 past schools or 80 on highways and 100 etc on the freeway, but still hog the overtaking lane anyways.. people who have phobias about being in heavy traffic situations

drunk assholes who decide to drive, drugged up high on shizz ravers coming home at 4am in the morning and implement a driver education system that teaches people about road courtesy and common sense.. not shit like you need to indicate while reversing... and maybe we can drive in peace in our "hoon machines" which as a club i gotta say we do pretty well in keeping in line on the roads, knowing the rep we have..

i am so annoyed...

think its time for that phonecall

anyone got an auto dialer with audio input

    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
    • Yep, this bit another local owner. I caught it before putting the transmission back into the car, what I noticed was the pressure plate fingers weren't flat and even. It's more obvious with the pull style clutch because the throwout bearing ring was visibly not flat once everything is put together. Nismo should really update their instructions to call out this specific detail. I'm not even sure the clutch as-shipped orients everything properly.
