Thanks for sorting it out Duncan!

I think the community definitely still has value but sometimes things like that just go too far.

Hopefully the guy hangs around and shares his build with us. It's not everyone's cup of tea but there are people out there who would enjoy what his doing.

Bought a chemistry set from China, to do some food experiments.

Anyway, because im not into amphetamines and such, i didnt realize its the kind of thing they use to make it.

The police told me they do.

When they Knocked on my door this morning and asked what its for.

:O

I dont want do have anything to do with that sht.

Now they will use it for a display set for education purposes.

I investigated the legality of alcohol distillation and Nicotine for E cigarettes, but not the glassware.

I just didnt realize or think it through, i dont know if its my fault or not. But i feel stupid.

Oh well sht happens.

Its funny, but i didnt really look at their ID, you know in a bit of shock and all that.

I just found out it wasnt the drug squad, who was it then? interesting...........

But i know its legit otherwise they wouldnt know i had it.

Maybe people are keeping an eye on me, i know too much about how to make the wrong things cos my dad was a rocket scientist.

Cool....

I actually wanted to try and capture the aromas from freshly ground coffee, by freezing everything, including the glassware, grind the coffee, put it in the first chamber by itself or with ice water, then gradually bring it up to 25-30c, distill it through a Vigreaux column to concentrate it, and try to condense the aromas again possibly id have to use Nitrogen to get cold enough.

The elusive essence of coffee, but it has to be stored cryogenically.

Then theres chocolate, i wonder if you could get an aroma thats like the taste of chocolate, not the usual smell you get.

Or an essence of full on choc flavour to add to things.

And all the other things, just use your imagination, what would be awesome?, try and make it.

Haha I don't think the popo are stalking you on SAU :P

Everything that comes from overseas is marked and tagged. Suspicious and all that get headed up to the Police. It was probably the Feds just doing their Wednesday postal investigation run. You'll be fine! Just don't buy another one haha

Been doing some research, it seems that drug makers use jam jars and garbage bin lids etc to make drugs.

Not lab glassware. I feel ripped off.

Did some inquiring today and it seems these guys are mystery men. Not with the normal police, i dont know who they are.

WTF? :O

Anyway with some luck ill get it back and make incredible real deal coffee ice cream.

I think id have a batch perfected before summer comes around.

People like to kill my dreams........ :(

    • Great work! Give it a clean up with some Emery paper, and I'd run a thread die over the threads too to clean them up. It will make reinstall much easier, and also life easier for the next time it needs to come out.
    • I'm not a fan of high humidity, it's one reason I don't mind being further inland out Ipswich, except the last 3 odd years, the drought broke, and it won't stop raining, which is making the humidity nearly unbearable when the rains are in during summer! For me, my body hates the cold, once the cold sets into my body, I'm totally screwed. I end up with severe muscle spasm in my back/shoulder muscles, and it feels like someone is trying to tear the muscles out. I have no issues with it getting stupid hot, so long as the humidity goes away. So the last 3 years as above, have been woeful! Ha ha. However, June 1st, and I'm only just converting from shorts and a tee, to long pants and a t shirt. And that's mainly as it's a bit wet and miserable and I wanted to work on a car.
    • I much prefer colder weather to hot weather, and especially prefer cold to hot and humid, Goulburn does gets pretty warm in the hotter months, but, I've found the humidity there is not as painful as even Sydney, the humidity up north is to oppressing for this old rooster  In saying this, it does get rather "nippy" in Goulburn for early morning, late in the evening walks, but nothing that a layer or two, some thermal gloves, and a beanie doesn't fix to make it an enjoyable experience, which is much more bearable to me than the oppression of heat and humidity,  especially at night when your trying to sleep If I recall correctly, a "wise man" once said that the "Southern Tablelands" was gods country, and I will not argue that point with him for the fear of a "permaban" LOL In car part related news: My intake is currently in Botany getting processed for the last leg of its shipping journey to my door
