Just curious, seems like a lot of people have stuff stolen by the wharfy thieves or have had damage done to the vehicle during transit. How many of you actually have had damage done/ stuff taken when you imported your car? My car arrives soon and I'm worried about the odds of stuff being taken/damaged.

Yes but a lot of people which didn't have any damage done or anything taken probably would not have posted. I'm just curious about the percentage of people which have had stuff stolen and/or taken in the past. It just seems that more than half of the people here who have imported have had stuff taken.

When I got my car, the stereo (fairly good one) was gone as well as a boost gauge. But what I was most annoyed about was when I watched my car come off the boat. It had been sitting in Japan for about 8 months so was in real need of a good service - so what did the guys taking it off the boat do? Thrashed it, raced it against another GTR to it'parking spot.

You would have to assume that they didn't give the oil time to warm up or gave the car any time to cool down - but why would they? IT'S NOT THERE'S!!!

:cuss:

The wharves have cameras now and dont tolerate that rubbish anymore. Apparently!

I know of an instance a few years ago at Brisbane wharf. We went to pick up a car, and there was no steering wheel. We asked where it went, and no one could answer us and said it never did have one. When questioned on how they drove it off the ship, they clammed up real tight! We drove it home with vice grips turnin the steering shaft!

Mine was missing a pod, but I didn't see photos, so maybe it wasn't there to start with. I had a turbo timer, blitz BOV and volks, all of which was not touched.

The paint got a substantial amount of extra small scratches, but that could have happened at the complience workshop.

Shipped through Kiwi, from Kawasaki -> Brisbane

I picked up a car from the storage yard in Sydney yesterday and the assholes have tried to theive the two HKS gauges on the A-pillar, subsequently stuffing the lower section of the factory a pillar and leaving the dual pod all but hanging off. One of the dash control units was also broken and hanging off, so neither the aircon or wipers worked (and it was raining :( )

if u have the option send by container then do that. It is more expensive but it is also much more secure that RORO vessels which are renown for have stuff pitched and damaged. i work for a freight forwarder and i see first hand what happens! Although u must understand that nothing is secure. Pillage and damage to cargo can happen at anytime during the transport of your goods.

had my stereo stolen and few scratches + 1 dent from freo docks oh and a forklift scratch at the rear..

car was a silvia k's http://www.pbase.com/fluent/my_s13

overall it wasn't too bad, apart from the minor issues car was in good condition :)

Mate if the folklift driver damaged ur car and admitted it, did u put a claim in for the damage?

This poll is about items that were taken in the transit of the car that was helped to sell with the car. Obviously if you never saw the item originally you wouldn't know if it was there to start with but if you have pictures of the items installed in the car you can begin to draw some conclusions......

i had my car arrive fine, i got container shipped... its a vip celsior right

i went and saw it at the storage area wherer it got unloaded... then it was sent for steam cleaning and then i got it towed to my place...... the front bar was cracked in 2 and the rear scractched up... i am getting it fixed now and gonna fit them the bill

as for getting something stolen... no,... nothing... but it was container.

Dude, relax, you choose to import, so you have to expect anything, from delays to theft, sadly its part of the game.

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
