  1. Just as an aside: one reason to buy the model with refills is that you can take out the little strainer compartment with the granules and empty the collected water. Doesn't really work with the disposable ones. The lesson I learned is that at some point you are going to be tired or in a rush or not paying attention and you are going to knock over that stupid little container and spill it over the seats. Can't spill water that isn't there...
  2. As a cheap and easy solution I'd suggest to leave one of these in the car. The one with refills. Place in the car on the armrest / centre console when parking at home. Just take it out before leaving. Pop it back in after coming home. Makes a noticeable difference in the wagon. I presume it'll work even better in a coupe with less cabin space / air volume in the car.
  3. I don't know the answer to this, but did you have a look at the parts diagrams on amayama.com and see what they list around it for your car? As an example this should be it on my car. That's how I would check for required clips and things like that. But, I take no responsibility for you ending up with a box full of random OEM hoses, washers and clips after going down that path a few times. This definitely has never happened to me
  4. I think the consensus was that's normal. Sloped road surfaces or something? I remember @silviaz went through this before. It might be one of those things you never notice until you pay attention to it.
  5. Thanks for mentioning it on the forums! Much appreciated Jen and I likely can't make it this weekend, but looking forward to see what you folks cook up in the future. Enjoy!
  6. As in they quoted one price, you mentioned the exhaust, and they promptly added $200 on top? Interesting.
  7. Haha, similar here. I remember reading about them in a magazine as a child. And how Arnold Schwarzenegger had six of them or something ridiculous like that. And somehow it left more of an impression on me than the Countach / Diablo / F40 or whatever the big poster car was at the time.
  8. Is this the one? https://jpjdm.com/shop/index.php?id_product=2192&rewrite=nissan-stagea-c34-rear-boot-actuator-assembly-90550-0v000 Might be worth having a look at yahoo japan as well. Though it seems a bit odd. If the motor works itself, other than being noisy, then wouldn't it be more likely that it's an electrical issue somewhere else? And it being noisy does not seem as surprising if it has been chugging away for months
  9. Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
  10. Just as an aside, my mechanic advised against branching off from temperature sensors. I don't fully understand why, but from what I remember because it is all about resistances, and messing with the wiring will mess with the resistances and throw off the results. Something like this. He said to run a dedicated temperature sensor per input. Pressure sensors on the other hand are fine to be branched off and passed onwards.
  11. Every time I have to buy new tyres I question what actual difference it makes between running $40 tyres and $300 tyres and whether it's worth it. Because that's a massive difference to the wallet. But then I did go to a driving training at some point which also included emergency braking and swerving in the wet. In part I think it was meant to show people how bad it gets. Funnily enough what I took away from it is that I can go much harder than I thought in my car. I presume mostly because of decent tyres. Some of the other cars there were shocking to behold. And a bit scary that cheap tyres are probably a lot more common on the road than decent ones
  12. What a statement to throw in there like that. If you do, could you make a build thread and share what it's like to own? Must be one of the old school coolest trucks out there. There's someone who owns one around here but I've always only seen it parked, and never driven.
  13. Oh, right. In that case there is no rush. It's the car entries that are quite limited and can sell out quickly.
  14. Hmpf, that doesn't sound great. That makes it feel like it might be better to put the money towards a track day instead. It didn't seem that bad the two years before. As Brett mentioned it'll be on the roll racing website. Sale starts 6pm on Wednesday. Tickets may sell out quickly so if you want to go, set an alarm and get them at that time
  15. All Jap Day is coming up again! 13th of July this year. Are you going? Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 6pm. Please let Quang know as well. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1163155775853542 I still get shit from my wife for this photo because it is the happiest she has ever seen me. And it's not with her, it's in someone else's car. Quang's EVO is sick, but that rotary wagon flying past was absolutely bonkers.
  16. Could you elaborate on that? Why? Asking because it's not obvious to me and I always try to learn from posts here.
  17. So you had a car that by all accounts drove well and survived track days, and that was looking great after months of being stuck at a paint shop. Some might call that a finished project. But you decided this is not quite right. So now the car does not run anymore. And the engine doesn't fit anymore. And the body parts don't match anymore. But, this is progress somehow. Greg, I think your subconscious does not like you and does not want you to drive this car. (I know I know, this whole escalation was not intended, but man, what a rollercoaster)
  18. Right, I see what you mean now. Mounting the fuel pump bare in the bottom of the tank without its box does look quite questionable: Compared to using the OEM box for the pump: Just for the record, these are the videos on the hanger and surge tank systems. He explains it quite well.
  19. Okay, good to know that it is not the same kit. There is no baffling in the tank from factory either, no? Possibly Nissan worked against that by feeding the fuel return line back into that little shoe the fuel pump sits in. From what I remember the FPG video mentioned that can actually be problematic if done with a high flow pump. Because the fuel is returned with more pressure through that little spout. There are so many ways to overthink this. It does my head in. I'll see what Unigroup says as well and go from there. It's a shame that the difference between the simple hanger and surge tank setup is ~$700. Add the new lift pump purchase on top and it becomes a bit hard to justify for a car that doesn't see that much action. First world problems I guess.
  20. One more question if you don't mind. Is the first kit you tried the same one as they currently sell as their fuel-pump-hanger kit? https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/collections/fuel-system-kits/products/fpg-bnr32-fuel-pump-hanger-kit-single-fits-stagea-c34-nissan-skyline-gt-r-r32-fpg-087?variant=42131478315186 Because according to their video the low fuel warning thing can be taken from the OEM hanger and attached to their new hanger. Just wondering whether this is the kit you weren't happy with, or whether it's a different revision. Thanks again!
  21. Neat, thanks! There's a Walbro 460 in there currently and it has never bothered me. If it's not getting any worse I'm fine with that. Murphy's law is inviolate. So don't you worry, I've got you covered. I filled up the tank just that morning on the way home. It's about as full as can be. I'm not going to touch it though. The car will go to Unigroup to get it done properly. See how it goes.
  22. Thanks Duncan! Yeah it's street use for me only. Maybe occasional track day. Any difference in noise when running with the two pumps? I would expect the lift pump to be more quiet than the main pump so hopefully not? And yes, unfortunately quite a big price difference to the simple hanger setup. Though I'm usually willing to trade money for better reliability and future-proofing. Buy once, cry once and all that. I'd be very happy to never have to deal with fuel pump / wiring issues again
  23. So, how do you feel about the Frenchys surge tank setup @Duncan? Have you had a chance to try it out more? The sketchy wiring in my fuel pump setup has decided to melt and die and I'm looking for a solid replacement now. My fuel hat is toast so the Frenchys kits providing it all look promising.
  24. Yep, I'd be interested to hear how it works out in the end.
