  1. bah - what a spew i loved this stuff, it was great as a detonation killer in the summer
  2. The Q45 AFM is from the VH41 engine the Z32 is more suitable and easier to use
  3. glowing red indicates excessive heat, heat usually makes the exhaust wheel fail / crumble apart
  4. do you mean KPA? 17 KPA isnt much - ie; its shagged the best way to check is to drop the exhaust at the dump pipe and inspect the exhaust wheel usually it fails and the turbo looses backpressure, thus the compressor does nothing - ie; no boost you could also try undoing the bolts to the CAT and look for smashed bits of ceramic - the wheel can often end up there
  5. ah yeah thats an old one its a demo engine for some tuning workshop it has been done in real life though stockmystock did a 3 litre supercharged turbocharged there are videos on youtube of it search for stockymcstock or on the forums and find the video links from memory its an rb30 with a supercharger and a GT40
  6. spotted mav and dan blind on msn
  7. all your PFC questions are covered in the PFC FAQ in my signature have a read of it
  8. yeah so its monitor well the number display is from the map plus any real time correction corrections are throw in for things like water temp, battery voltage so is it at idle this # is displayed?
  9. when you say it reads '10 deg' where is this coming from? is this from MONITOR, 1 CHANNEL, IGNTMNG? is this from SETTING, IGN MAP? is this from ETC, SENSOR SW CHECK is the '10deg' displayed at idle ? please explain the steps you take to see '10deg' - this will tell us where the problem is coming from
  10. from the tunes i have seen and all the guys who have asked me or pm'd its very common to see knocking on the street after a dyno tune it seems when a user loads it up in 2nd/3rd gear on the road the load axis is ever so slightly different than the WOT runs on the dyno in 4th so they touch a few different cells, which is enouggh to throw knock past 60 and bring on the engine check light my usual advice includes to read the FAQ and learn how to back out timing and using map tracer to detect where the knocking is coming from i always warn my guys that knocking is real and dont ignore it, if you see knocking typically on full 2nd/3rd WOT runs (as most guys do) to back off and fix it if they cant fix cos its too hard or they are scared to use the hand conrtoller then i suggest reppeatedly to go show a tuner and show them when it occurs or ideally take the tuner for a trash on the street to demonstrate it - cos if they plonk it on the dyno in 4th it will be fine + wont fit those cells if any of my guys had a 98 ron dyno tune and all was well and they were going to do a track day i would suggest repeatedly to run 100ron purely for safety / anti detonation killer more as an insurance purpose. if something is gonna fail / go bad its gonna be a few laps of a track with excessive temps and lots of WOT load - so 100ron is a good fix / workaround if they refuse 100ron then i suggest to back out some timing even 2deg using the temp IGN adjust can be enough to save an engine on a few track trash laps

  18. normal idle is around 900rpm or less even 800rpm (its on a sticker on the underside of the bonnet) if TPS is dead RPM will jump and peg at 1500rpm as a failsafe for the engine so if you see your idle ramp to 1500rpm and sit there, the TPS is toast, that is, the value its telling the ECU is out of range, ie: its probably 0.0 when it happens. if the TPS is toast the car will be jerky as cos the computer will try and detect and determine load from the TPS, but the sensor goes to 0.0 (lets say) so it jerks and is stally
  19. ive got one for sale - $14,999.00 and its yours comes with a free $0 car....
  20. covered to death in the power fc faq its in my signature tells you how to work out what model hand controller you need there are several versions of the hand controller and you must match it to the correct one
  21. it would be unlikely nissan would use completely different loom parts for a variant of an engine the main differnces i know of would be the N/A loom wouldnt have pin 25 for the boost solenoid the rest should be the same - i even used an RB26 inline loom adapter on an RB25 engine and ECU, so its a common part / wire setup they just remove pins that arent used/needed and so forth
  22. read this - re: cheap cam gears http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fa...ml#entry3896612
  23. 89.9 so JDM stereo is OK

    Car Vs House

it all comes down to your own scale and whats important to you ie your skyline and how it boosts is only useful and important to you - it doesnt hold value to anyone else you can certainly have both your skyline and a house you just need to balance it on a normal scale and not go overboard
  25. i think you should give them the feedback that they have lost you as a customer at least for the next guy they work on they might improve things who knows - maybe a rookie was working on it and theyve fired him or something? feedback helps even if you dont plan on going back
