Im after an oil pumpformy gtrand dont really wnat to spend the $1700 or so for a nitto, crank collar and machining, I know rb30's have a different geardesign, narrowdrive and dont seem to crack, however theyflow less. Im planning on running restrictors on the head feed, and a single turbo, which will both improve oil supply to the bottom end, am I mad?

  5. But how much of the heat comes fromthe pump itself, if it is drawing 20A at full noise, thats 240watts, introducing o lot of heat

Even though its not necessary for a street car, i cant see how they can do it for 3k, its a motor out job, dissasemble, machine crank for collar, (about $400 collar and macining), $1350 oil pump, allow $1200 for sump, baffles ,pickip and welding. Then you need restrictors, which is a head off job.

  13. From what i gather the "engineering" i need is the vsccs, and he required the above items, but said the turbo even the engine didnt phase him as hewasnt approving those things

I think the 15year rule, i had to store it in japan for a month as it was a little too new when i bought it anyway spoke to the rms and all i need is a vsccs certificate(adr compliance test) which is $880 and a blue slip. As far as the mods go, the engineer said they dont effect the vsccs,, but his paperwork would still say rb30, and the turbo/brakes wouldnt be engineered, i guess it comes down to whether i can get a blue slip with the motor and turbo

  16. The other one we imported at the same time needed compliance, mine doesnt have an aus vin/compliance plate and how stock is stock, or is it more a case of importers getting cosy with compliance shops who dont notice exhaust, wheels and turbos?
  17. I agree with all the above, it is a really tidy car, if i can get it on the road for 7k or so, then financially i think im better off. I was told that as i have import approval, i should be able to get it under raws, just have to pay again.
  18. Hi all, 7 years ago i imported an 89 gtr through prestige. Long story, but when it arrived the motor was stuffed(big cams my ass, more like busted piston) hence didnt get complied. The car has import approval through the old scheme. Car has an hks single turbo. Anyway im looking at refitting an rb26(has a 30/26 now) but hopefully retaining the single setup. After speaking to a few raws workshops im getting some conflicting advice. am i better off getting new import approval under the new scheme, or persevering with the old scheme? Car also has a brake conversion, am i better off putting stocker on to get it complied? Thanks
