Hi, I'm stuck in 3rd gear, been stuck for a while. I think the thrust bearing was on it's way out before getting stuck (it was whirring/clunking with the clutch pedal up, then when you'd press down on it you could hear it wind down for a few then stop making the noise). Question is - if I replace the thrust bearing, along with a clutch plate and pressure plate with a machined flywheel. Will the gearbox then come out of gear? Or will I have to put a new box in as well? The reason I ask is because if I run the car and put my foot off the clutch pedal it will try to roll forward then stall (basically, the clutch seems to pickup still). When trying to pull it out of 3rd it will only go down a little bit but not entirely out of 3rd, if I try to put the clutch pedal up in this half way out stage grinding can be heard from the gearbox. I've got a gearbox and clutch ready to go in, I just want to avoid putting the gearbox in for now (as I don't know it's condition) and wondering if the clutch kit itself will help. Thanks.

I only have a rudimentary knowledge about these things but isn't -1.8 rear camber a lot for the rear? Wouldn't 0 or -0.5 be where you'd want to be? Sorry if I'm wrong but it may be something to confirm?

Under that definition defective mufflers are anything non standard. I'd be stumped if that happened to me, as there's no defect to clear. Can you show us the actual infringement or whatever that was issued? I'd be calling a traffic lawyer, I know that sounds over the top but if he's going to keep doing it and your first one gets cleared, then you'd have cause to complain that you're being harassed. If you pay this one, and he keeps doing it, it's going to be a very very expensive ownership of your line. Hmm what a ****wit. Just out of interest what legislation did you paste from? I'd be interested to know how it's defined that a police officer can enforce that one. By the looks of it though if that's EPA legislation then technically, by the sounds of it any mod is illegal, but how the **** he came up with $200 is beyond me.. lawyer time. I'd be in touch with the EPA also. If they say for example "our guideline is if it's ok by RTA then we're fine with it we interpret that as 90db or under" then you can get that and take it to court I guess.

I don't know your story nor your particular pain, but having my car off the road for 90% of the time I've owned it and having it engineered + rego'ed last month and still off the road I know how it feels. I did a few "maccas" runs myself. Good on ya mate. pics please

I have 8.5" and use 235. i think 255 is gonna have way too much sidewall on 7". I'd go with 215.

They all do the same thing if you don't want bling install a jaycar one or get one from a wreckers/importer for like $20.

Stop boosting What's the .18 and .12 in AFR? If it means 1:18 and 1:12 then at idle it should be lean (you're not on boost).. mine idles at something pretty lean too but when it hits the boost it stays at 1:12 and richer.

Oops. Replacing them, torquing? oh dear...I just put them on and hand tightened half of them, my mate did the other half. (engine to manifold, manifold to turbo, dumppipe) Was I just really lucky that it all works ok? Either way I'm going to stop hi-jacking. Good luck Iwells.

They must be replaced everytime you take the exi mani off? I re-used mine and they're fine (sr20). Is this only on the rb26 or all engines? Should I be taking my turbo off and replacing them!?

Eug I think the point was chinese copies of turbos that aren't developed/made in their original country of origin are piece of shit. I'm sure there are turbos made in china that are legit that are good but we all know what it means when it's a chinese copy. And if it was a Japanese copy it'd be better quality so I don't think it's all the same in all the countries you listed heh

One other thing if I may add 2GU on that note - if you're serious about not being harassed you should launch a request for info on you and your car rego under the freedom of information act. I think there's like a small admin fee like $10-20 involved and they have to send you every single thing they have on you. Maybe you're listed as a POI because a copper got some attitude from you or something. Either way if you've done nothing wrong you can also ask them to remove/clear all that information and also report getting pulled over and feeling targetted unfairly with the ethics officer (or whatever they're called) that handle complaints in your LAC. I had an acqaintence who bought a local drug dealers car, he didn't know he'd inherit all the trouble but he used to get pulled all the time and searched etc. He found out what happened and went to the cop shop and started to pull all the stuff.. anyways, they cleared his record on the car etc and he wasn't bothered after that. This was some custom interior chromy wheeled s13 with the rear seats removed for subs and neons... so ... yeah pretty attention seeking (and crap imo). Worth a shot but Roy's on the money.

That would be loud as. When I got my car it was dump pipe > cat > cannon. That was WAAAY too loud for the road. I had a resonator put in (hot dog style) between the cat and cannon and it's still 96db. If you really want to know dyno it, take it off, dyno it again.
