clutch dying, NOoooooooo
someonestolecc replied to Jimbo2000's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm $550 is a nice price. I went on Cubes advice and ordered the DCBHD for the sr20 with 860kg pressure plate yesterday. That's 9 puk ceramic. The engine is putting out 180-200rwkw (depending which dyno you wanna go by) and will hopefully be closer to the 230rwkw with some EBC action. Hope it's good - a lot of people seem to use this on SAU (there's a couple of other threads about this in the last month or so). Zahos - this is the first I've anything remotely bad about them, did that person say anything? If anyone reads this and wants to know how I went PM me in a few weeks -
speaker sizes for L/R doors
someonestolecc replied to jeromeA31's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Definately not fit without pods. I have 6.5" and it needed a huge spacer (can't remember would have to measure the mdf) to clear the window when it was down. I wouldn't even put a 6x9 in it but that's just me Door panel should be easy, just undo the door handle inlet, unscrew the door "handle" (the part where you put your hand into when you open the door), unscrew the few screws on the door (some are covered with a plug only visible when the door is open), then just pop the others off. I removed the plastic crap from the door and cleaned all the goop off when I was there and replaced it with sound deadener as well. I think I have some photos when I did mine if you get stuck. Hope that helped -
Hmm, mine must be weird because my backrest comes out first pushing it up and toward the rear of the car, then the base (what you sit on). Oh well it should all be pretty easy to feel.

Abe: [stammers a little] The metric system is the tool of the devil! My car gets forty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it. -

will this kill gearbox?
someonestolecc replied to GTS4dood's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cubes I'm interested in that too. I will try that, I usually rev match though do you think that rev matching negates the petrol saving? -
Please don't divide up the audio section now. If you have to do it please do it when it gets bigger - right now it's not big enough. I would like to see car security included however so until it gets bigger my suggestion would be to make it audio and security sub-forum.

bov, difference to throttle feel
someonestolecc replied to Jimbo2000's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
In theory the half/half atmos/plum is why it was made so that AFM cars wouldn't suffer so badly. Try running it 90/10 plum/atmos and see if it still makes the noise you like -
What suspension are u using???
someonestolecc replied to Col-GTSX's topic in General Automotive Discussion
1. Brand (shock/spring) Tein something or other 2. Type (ie. coilovers/standard) coilover 3. Height (lowered by x"/standard) 100mm from ground (no idea what standard is sorry) 4. Reason (What purpose or setup type) came with car 5. Cost (New/Used and where from) no idea 6. Car (R31/32/33/34/GTR/ what ever) A31 7. Any thoughts on what you would do different. (ie. explain whats good & bad) With the struts I say they handle excellent and I don't think they are stiff Teins - I'm not sure what type they are but are height adjustable. They ride very well on the street and respond well when driving enthusiastically. Off course they don't take bumps as well as a taxi but I think they could stand to be even harder, they won't "bottom out" on anything but the most vicious potholes (which you shouldn't be hitting anyway). I really noticed the difference after putting in some pineapples and rear camber kit so I would highly recommend PU pineapples if you're doing your suspension anyway. -
New Member! seeking for new car!

They're like any other car they can be a peice of crap or a great ride. Personally if yo're on a budget I wouldn't get either. Try a camry, barina or corolla. No joke. Skylines tend to be expensive.. and audi a3s I don't see being that cheap either. Good luck either way though -
Damn guys you seem to have some nice stuff. Is there really THAT much difference with a sound processor or do you only really need that if you're running a surround setup?

centre gear stick garnish try the sticky in one of the threads for a r32 gearstick and handbrake boots. i also put a tute in there too to fit to the cef.

There is a how-to in the tutorial section that shows you the points that are typically used. You can make your own

Get it engineered - as far as I know the 100mm is not measured with anyone in the car. As far as I'm aware technically any mod you do on your car needs engineering, including the air filter. A box won't make it legal-er it will just hide it. I have my non-oiled pod engineered with no box - so the "so long as it's in a box it's legal" is an old wives tale, atleast in NSW. Good luck.

My 1st Skyline .. Questions and questions
someonestolecc replied to d00dz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
1. There should be a non-descript knob somewhere, it's usually a dick smith looking thing and it could be anywhere because it's put in for compliance and not factory. 2. Take off your steering wheel and re-connect it. Should be pretty obvious (1 positive wire, touch it (ie. ground it) to the steering wheel and it should go beep. If it's fallen off you should just be able to re-connect. If it won't beep when you're grounding it and it's the right wire then you might wanna test the actual horn. 3. I think that's climate control so to turn it off try hitting manual? Then the fan (if there is one I don't know about r33 sorry). 4. If you look in the tutorial section of this thread there's an excellent how-to for washing and buffing and polishing your baby. Take care. -
I want : Heh. I have something that looks stock compared to Marty's setup. HU: Pioneer 7650 Front: Focal JM Labs KVP2 6.5" splits (stock crossovers/woofers/tweeters) Rear: Pioneer Carrozerria (yes stock!) 3-way 6x9 (turned right down and tagged for replacement) Boot: noname 12" sub (salvaged for the "meantime" and tagged for replacement) Amps: Pioneer gmx414, Non-branded amp for subs (It actually has no markings on it) Sound dead: Some roadkill and some stuff Marty sent me (can't remember name) Wires n stuff: Stinger/Streetwires I wish: ID max 10" running from an audison 1.400 and some semi decent rear fill. Still - I think I've done ok for the money spent and I think with a tune and a tweak with a decent sub it would be alright.. Pity I don't know how to tune

Importing from AUS
someonestolecc replied to Alf's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
If they convert it to LHD I wouldn't do it sorry but that's just wrong. Also in theory they're right - LHD is safer for the side of the road they're on. -
will this kill gearbox?
someonestolecc replied to GTS4dood's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It's a bad habit at best stupid thing at worst. This is because if you need to move you're not in gear, also if someone pulls out on you or something it's one more thing you have to think about. I even think coasting to lights is a bad idea but I've done it when lazy but I would recommend learners/those unfamiliar with driving not to do it... as ferni said though those who know what they're doing and wish to be changing pads instead of clutches go for your life And no it won't hurt the gearbox as others have already said.
