yeah speed is week. piquet on salazar was a nice vid. great comentary too. Jar I have no idea what that vid of kimi was supposed to prove except that without booze or coke he is the most boring man on the planet. I watched about 1 minute and gave up.

yeah trying to tee up big parts like engines etc, add to that the language barrier, payment, organising shipping etc. also most companies will not be too willing to do something like that on a one off bassis. they are more interested in big, repeat customers. but by all means buy some parts, it can be fun too. but there is so much else to see, do, eat, drink, try in japan.

1990 R32, Push Or Pull Clutch?
Beer Baron replied to Tomei_33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol, there is no cable!! ok, in a pull clutch the slave is on the other side of the clutch fork. but it still pushes on the fork, the fork is now doing pulling, instead of pushing. push clutch and pull clutch have completely different diaphragms. -
Fujitsu Lifebook Notebook P7120 Ultra Portable Notebook
Beer Baron replied to Beer Baron's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
a few people asked me about warranty so I checked it out. I got this info from the Fujitsu website: "The LifeBook P7120 will be available through Fujitsu resellers nationally and comes with Fujitsu's standard three year warranty¹ . Please visit www.pc-ap.fujitsu.com for further details." So about 2.5 years of warranty remaining. -
I saw it in Japan in january. Took these snaps below. It looks pretty cool. A little to 'new-age' and 'edgey' for me. but hey, they have always been a bit of a homo's car.... they even had a mini-me version

1990 R32, Push Or Pull Clutch?
Beer Baron replied to Tomei_33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
nice to know somone agrees with me. and can explain it even better! yes zennon I have no idea what cars you have been looking at mate, but no pedal is pulling on the master cylinder... and none have a pedal connected to the master cylinder by a cable. like I said above, the easiest way to tell is check which side your slave is on in relation to the clutch fork. -
depends a bit on the seat, and on the extinguisher. with my 32 GTR seat seat can slide all the way back, and pretty much all the way forward. With my 34 GTR seats they can't come as far forward as the extinguisher will be pushed into it. haven't tried it with the cobra evolution but it should fit.

no. not required for a 33 GTR crank.

if you have a bachelors degree then that's all you need if you just want to teach english in a conversation school. take a hard look at why you want to move to japan though. teaching conversational english may not be that rewarding for you (eiter in the monetary sense, or the self fullfilment sense). If however you just want to experience japanese culture and enjoy a pretty cruisy lifestyle for a few years before you become a corporate wage slave then by all means do it. I would look at it as a couple of years rest and relaxation. but don't expect it to advance your career too much.

it has larger 'flats' to drive the oil pump.

Beer Baron replied to dineth's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you can pretty much use any C spanner to adjust any coil over, should be fine. -

well years ago (i'm talking 10 years plus) a guy broke into my parents house just before christmas. all he did was steal a ham and a the sphincter of the universe, a bottle of beer and some soft drink ouf of our fridge! nasty business that. lol.

yeah, all the work I've seen come out of proengines is top shelf. nice that Greg takes the time to develop new parts for RB26 too.

100 octane fuel is not 'standard fuel in japan'. Yes 100 octane (and in some places higher) is available but 99% of all japanese cars, including skylines etc are happy to run on 95 octane when standard. obviously when modified a better fuel is a smart choice. bayside, the reason people would tell you that is the US use a different method of measuring the octane rating of their fuel.
-
the main difference between cheaper ones, and more expensive ones are: the amount of powder in them, the quality of the casing, quality of valve and of course the rating. the ratings for 1kg extinguishers varies a lot. try and find out the rating if you can. but if they are a good extinguisher, for $33 that's a bargain!

ahh, ok, I just took a stab in the dark at 200 drivers. I would have thought 200 was manageable considering only half are doing the supersprint and half a doing the 'drive bathurst' event. but yeah, if it costs $450K and the max they can take it $540K then it will be pretty tight by the time they pay for all the extras.

Show Me Your Racing Machines
Beer Baron replied to screamin''s topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
man, 33s really scream for wider wheels with less offset. other than that nice to see someone getting a 33 out there. -
actually depending on where you shop buying the stuff on line will be cheaper than japanese retail. unless you know people in japan or can speak some japanese to deal with performance shops it will be hard to get really cheap prices on stuff. wall thickness is no big problem. if your engine has never been rebuilt before just go to 86.5mm bore that is only 0.25mm out of the wall thickness and with a 2.8 kit it will be nicer than most rebuilt 2.6s. without some language and lots of time and some contacts it's not worth wasting too much time in japan chasing cheap parts. there are so many other things worth doing. and with the advent of the internet you can shop just as cheaply from here
-
my advice is now that you know what brand the pistons are, contact the piston manufacturer and ask them wat PTB clearance they reccomend. it may in fact be 0.1mm (unlikely, but possible).
-
mike, to be honest I think you're much better off buying an engine here and building it with japanese parts. you could buy and fit: tomei or HKS 2.8 litre kit replace oil and water pumps sump mods oil system mods cams and have a motor better than an Nissan N1 motor and cost less. modifying cars and getting motors built in japan is expensive. My friend is currently putting a new motor in his 32 GTR in japan. the motor was not too expensive new from nissan but by the time a few bits are done, and added and tuned etc you are looking at $20K... Plus a motor built in japan, if it fails what do you do? Better to look at one of the top shops here and hve one built with japanese parts.
