How High Can A Stock R33 Rb25De Rev?
89CAL replied to TurboDoseBro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I wasnt comparing, I was stating different design concepts. F1 engine designed to race, RB25 is designed for a street car to have useable power. That is the key thing here. An F1 car doesn't need power at revs it never see's so all the power is at the top where the engine is used the most RB25 is designed to be drivable everyday that's why it's not built with the intention of having power past redline, it's designed to have enough power to putt around town or smash it to about where the redline is set, compromise basically -
Bored, Thought I'd put photos of my first car up seen as I got a bit nostalgic posting a photo of the engine bay in Bens build thread haha And what it decided to do on my 18th birthday: Aftermarket lifters are a no-go in RB30E's

Nur33 Soon To Be A Time-attack Weapon.

We have a press at home, and dad has plenty of bearing pullers etc at his work so hopefully should be right, He seems to think hes got the gear to do it so should be alright lol $30 each is alright, did you replace all of them? It seems I have at least one worn bearings on one of the shafts (has a nasty clunk in 5th gear and makes some noises when releasing the clutch in neutral) Thinking about getting a lightweight flywheel while the gearbox is out but not 100% sure on that yet Anyway, enought thread stealing. Will talk about this further in the Mackay thread if you have any more information about what you found with the bearings and what you ended up having to replace. Back to NUR33 haha -
Removing Piece Of Plastic Under Front Window Wipers
89CAL replied to AAARGH 33's topic in General Maintenance
yeah I have to pull that bit of plastic off and paint it as well, now that I've seen the results. I painted my wiper arms ages ago but there starting to fade again Might give this a go sometime soon -
How High Can A Stock R33 Rb25De Rev?
89CAL replied to TurboDoseBro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
they are setup to run like that. Formula 1 cars are designed to rev high and get there quick, why? Because they are the pointy end of motor racing , Your NA skyline.... Is not the same as this FYI, before the limitations on engine development in F1, they would spend billions doing this...... Hence why they rev hard and make such good power/torque despite being NA V10 3L then V8 2.4L (Bring back the 1200hp turbo days , would be amazing) -

Super Jealous Hey Ben, whered you get the bearing kit for your gearbox? I've heard CBC Bearings sell a kit. Need to replace the bearings in mine I'm pretty sure, when I have a daily I will be pulling the box out and doing that. Will give me time to see if everything else is all good and order parts (if they are available) if I have to replace anything. Back on your car but, engine bay respray looks good, its suprising how much of an improvement it makes especially on darker cars. My old Calais got much nicer with some paint in the engine bay Back before I could afford a Skyline -
Same profile but different tyre widths? Might want to check that out, would expect it to be 275/35 or maybe even 275/30

15psi is to much for a stock turbo for a start.....

R33 Gts-T Camber
89CAL replied to Justlikemusic's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lowered? Fair bit of negative camber occurs when they are lowered Stock arms and bushes etc. Lowered about 2 inch max: -
Yeah think about it with the future in mind like I did. $500 sounds like alot now but $700 is more for doing the same job twice (random prices I choose for fuel pumps)
-
Everyone I know with a walbro pump just says they would not get one again..... I dont have any experience with them so can't really say they are bad, but going off what others have said I wouldnt buy one They are not purely for a drag/high power setup. I have run one for nearly 3 years, from when the car was basically stock just before I got a tune till now, and I cannot fault the Tomei pump at all. It is near silent, has never had fuel supply issues, and only took about half an hour to install Bosch pumps are noisey and have pickup issues Walbro, from what I know, need a direct power feed because they only provide there rated fuel supply at 15v or something? Like I said I dont have experience with these two, but just saying that I've never regretted paying a little bit extra for the tomei pump

Wheels are about to go in the pocket trader. If anyone wants them, or knows anyone that might want some 19's for there car (PCD 114.3 5 stud etc etc ) then let me know

No proper pothole repairs till the sun comes out.... Said in the paper they will only do patch ups till they can re-lay road when the suns out Which is annoying, but fair enough I guess
-
Have you considered a tomei? Same as a NISMO but slightly cheaper Thats what I have and it fits perfectly in stock position, in its own cradle, Is quiet, pumps a good amount of fuel and has a good pickup

R33 SI and SII guards are the same. I have series 1 guards on with a series 2 front

That looks much better then the first example

wiper arms are held on with a nut, the bottom bit (at the base of the wiper arm) flips up and reveals a nut. Pretty straight forward from there -
boot looks completely different in your avatar........ I dont think it will fit

Boost Cut Or Fuel Cut Problem! R33 Gtst Rb25
89CAL replied to scottish lad's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Think SAFC 1 just had knobs to adjust rather then buttons etc but not sure -
Stock ecu and extra boost do not mix. How much boost? Usually anything over 8psi in a 33 will cause issues
-
Have you changed/modified anything in the car lately? Sounds pretty strange, I know mine sometimes idles high when I'm moving until I stop then it falls back down to normal idle. But i think that is normal, mine is only sitting at about 1500rpm when I do this, usually being lazy and coasting to traffic lights in neutral

Boost Cut Or Fuel Cut Problem! R33 Gtst Rb25
89CAL replied to scottish lad's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Will not be boost cut, the factory ECU's do not have provisions for this They have rich and retard, your ECU will be seeing to high air flow (from increased boost) and seeing this as a problem and either putting it in rich and retard or cutting the engine And if your tuner told you to wind up the boost to fix the problem then I would consider finding another tuner...... To correct this you will need an aftermarket ECU and a tune. If you dont want to do that, wind the boost down to 8psi and drive it standardish -
So I had to roll the front guards on my car today, thought they werent an issue but chewed a bit of tyre turning into a driveway the other night lol so decided to fix it today. Hopefully all good, didnt do much damage just put a very small dint where one of the screws from the drivers side inner guard hit the other part of the guard but oh well. Not a bad job and it was free
