Tailsaft/gearbox Issue? R32 With A 25 Box
89CAL replied to sean133's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I couldnt' source one locally and after having my car off the road for 3 months, and not wanting to wait over the weekend for parts, I thought it was better to just get it re-kitted. Only took them about an hour as well. -
FWD's arent really my thing lol I'm looking at my next car, I kinda want a C250 (a C63 would be great but a bit out of my price range ) or a BMW 323i. I have toyed with the idea of getting a VF Commodore because it makes much more sense. But think I'd rather the BMW at the moment Wow this is off topic now isnt it...............

did you check if the washers are there? -
I'm not doing tipping this year. I did about 4 rounds last year, then started forgetting and eventually gave up lol
-
Might get it this year. Was at the race last year thinking about it but $30+ was a bit exxy
-
Looks aftermarket. Will need some better photos to give some proper advice. Cant be fuel reg missing a hose or there would be fuel everywhere. I wonder if the reg has been adjusted properly?
-
You would have a massive fuel leak or a blocked reg if tgat hose is missing. One or the other

Get some figures off your PFC for us to look at. Give us a rough indication of what your timing is doing (it should fluctuate a couple of degrees, but the average timing or what it sits on the most while its doing it), What injectors and what injector Duty Cycle? What does your sensor/sw page on the hand controller say? Is the base timing set up right?

How much was accom? Or are you staying with someone? Albert park hotel cost a fortune on grand prix weekend (for obvious reasons lol) as did most other places near the track. Ill just get a tram with all the commoners

Tailsaft/gearbox Issue? R32 With A 25 Box
89CAL replied to sean133's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah might have a siezed or damaged slave. I got mine honed and re-sealed from a brake shop for $50. Looked and felt like a brand new one. They can re-sleeve it if the bore is to wrecked. Give that a go, sounds like it needs a rebuild anyway -
whats ur PSN name? I think I can accept members... not to sure but lol

Tailsaft/gearbox Issue? R32 With A 25 Box
89CAL replied to sean133's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If its a 25 box and the slave is stuffed, it means you wont get as much clutch disengagement rather then engagement. So you should have the opposite problem, hard to get into gears, but has full clutch contact when the clutch pedal is released. To confirm this you could just remove the slave and leave it hang. Then start the car in first with the wheels in the air and they should spin happily. Otherwise if its an issue with how much clutch slip it has (more then normal) then you could try the same thing but then try and start the car in first with it on the ground. make sure you have plenty of room obviously, because if it does start and the clutch is engaged it will move forward until you hit the brakes or turn it off. what was the condition of the clutch that went in it? Was the gearbox known to be working before it went in the car? From memory the output shaft will spin a little bit with the car in neutral with no load on it The clutch might have an issue -
Bump $1000 plus postage. This will also fit R32 GTS-t

Oh dear lol....... Yeah I'm keen to hit Melbourne and see what these cars sound like in the flesh. Should be a good weekend

Tailsaft/gearbox Issue? R32 With A 25 Box
89CAL replied to sean133's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Have to use the clutch to put it in gear, thats not unusual? cant you put the back of the car on standsso the wheels are in the air and then (carefully) put it in gear and have a look. Obviously if the tailshaft doesnt spin at all then it isn't engaging the shaft out of the gearbox. If you want to confirm this, you could use some spacers and longer bolts on the diff flange for the tailshaft so that the front will go further in the gearbox. Again be careful doing this, while on stands, and be gentle putting it into gear. It's just something to check it, dont go driving around like that because its not good at all -
Yeah I still have alot of fun playing it. Been making a heap of cash the past few times I played Should have a crew night sometime. More RP and cash plus can get some shit done (getting everyone some race wins for mods etc)

R33 Rb25Det Cas/exhaust Timing Noise
89CAL replied to CenterLink's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do you have the washers for the CAS seal in there? They are needed or you will have CAS issues. The seal for the CAS sits in the timing cover and has 3 thick washers with groves in them fro the seal to sit in Just remember that without these washers you can have issues -
Maldonado: Lotus "Best Decision ever" It must feel like a great decision going to a team that only wanted you for your money, doesn't make the car on time, has issues during testing, while your old team stands out during testing and looks really promising for the year. I like Lotus, but Maldonado is by far my least favourite driver on the grid.

R33 Rb25Det Cas/exhaust Timing Noise
89CAL replied to CenterLink's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do you have a spare CAS? I had problems with mine ages ago when I did the timing belt. Didnt make a noise with the timing cover off but did with it on. For ages I thought it was just the timing cover vibrating. Turned out to be the CAS. I pulled it off and it was really hard to turn it by hand. So maybe pull it off and feel if the bearing feels rough/hard to turn -
Dig up an old thread for a rant?
