I have been finding it harder to get Warrants of Fitness and the last guy pointed out a load of illegal stuff but because he was a Skyline fan and i promised it was the last time he gave me the WOF. The RB30/25 is going in now and then the GTR diff and axles etc and then I will put the car through what we call "low volume certification" with an approved engineer. Then I will go to the insurance company with my complete list of mods and certificate. Cops are quite hot on this kind of stuff here especially with "boy racers" but because my car looks pretty stock and I am really old I haven't had any hassles yet but just need to keep the insurance legal.

Does Any1 No The Safety Star Rating 4 97 Rs4 Please
KiwiRS4T replied to RS444's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I have seen a five star rating - will have to look it up to see who issued the rating. I wrote off an earlier S1 RS4T by leaving the State highway at about 100km/hr flying across a culvert and hitting the other side ( Lack of sleep - I have learned my lesson and don't plan on a repeat). Front was wrecked LH turret pushed back and roof buckled - windscreen shattered but sayed intact (no flying glass) - doors stayed shut but could all be opened post crash. Seatbelts have pre-tensioners and airbags deployed. Suffered a bit of a headache and a scratch on my left elbow. Survivability is affected not only by features that give rise to a 5 star rating but also mass is a factor (esp in head on) so in this case 1800kg is a plus. -
Eoi- Gcg Highflowed Turbo Etc
KiwiRS4T replied to KiwiRS4T's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Turbo sold to a member who first enquired about it months ago. Thanks to all who expressed interest. Adjustable cam gear sold. Z32 afm (bought brand new 5000km ago) now for sale at $200 - will put it on TradeMe for about $250 unless someone buys it before Sunday night. -
The obvious one is to check the level in the reservoir in the side of the boot. If you're real keen bleed the system (nipple at back of transfer box and another on top of diff) - just crack them open with the motor running. Try resetting the ecu (disonnect the battery and reconnect). Your different brand tyres may have the same nominal size but jack them up and measure the circumference and see if they are in fact the same.

I am amazed at your fortitude. You had such bad luck with the original car and did a mammoth job building the new one. You would be entitled to have a poor opinion of Stageas so I am glad to hear you would consider another in the future. Good luck with whatever you are driving - you deserve a break from car troubles! ...Bob

Upgrading Stagea Headlights & Fog Lights
KiwiRS4T replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Dunno about series 2 but on my s1 lamp type is stamped on the plastic housing above the lights. If by parker you mean the font indicator lights they are a single contact bayonet fitting 12v 21W. -
My conversion is from an RB33 GTR so maybe that makes the pedals easier to fit. If you look at the handbrake you will see that it is bolted on to a black plate. The plate looks as though it is rivetted on but is in fact welded to the tunnel.

Just a straight question. Why would you want to have "stretched tyres"? First of all is it not a waste of money to have wheels wider than necessary? If its just a question of looks you can make sure the wheels fill the guards by choosing appropriate offset (or spacers if necessary). And do you not care that "stretched "tyres degrade the ride and handling? Not getting at you in particular - I see a few of examples even here in Gods own country - its just that i don't know anybody with stretched tyres to ask the question of.

In the morning when its light I will take a photo of mine - the cover is off atm.

225 45 17's On Standard C34 S2 Autech Rim ?
KiwiRS4T replied to ssshonky's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
They will be near enough the same...a little bit smaller so your speedo will read a little higher. -
Nick's description is correct. While you're at it you may as well bypass the solenoid and get 10psi but you will need to find the restrictor in one of the lines and make sure it is in the bleed line (or else make one up from a weldind tip or by soldering up the bleed side of the T and drilling a hole in it. Fitting An Lsd In A Series One Stagea
KiwiRS4T replied to RSVFOURUK's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
If you go up to the DIY sticky above you will see a thread on swapping a GTR diff into a Stagea (the opposite of what you want). It is not an easy job. I would have thought your 260RS already had an LSD but if not you would be better to look out for a GTR lsd - they often come up on ebay e.g. ps I assumed that you had a 260 RS but if you have dropped an RB26 into a stock Stagea then it should be a simple swap. Check with Nissan FAST to see if the diffs are the same ratio. -
225 45 17's On Standard C34 S2 Autech Rim ?
KiwiRS4T replied to ssshonky's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
225 will fit on a 7in rim. You can search online for fitment charts to confirm if you want. 235 will fit but are not recommended although i don't know about ïllegal" especially when I see some of the stupidly "stretched" tyres that some people have. -
When i fitted the GTT brakes I found the master cylinder worked fine but I see that some people have replaced it - presumably to reduce the pedal travel (although increasing the effort required). My S1 has a BM50 - what are peope using who have upgraded and from which vehicle are these available (or have you paid the brand new price)??

225 45 17's On Standard C34 S2 Autech Rim ?
KiwiRS4T replied to ssshonky's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
225/45 will fit as will 205/40, 215/45, Popular size seems to be 235/45/17 (like I have Potenza RE001) but you need 7.5 or 8in rims for those. -
Never mind delving ...just take your wheels off and have a look - they won't fit.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-276889368.htm I am not recommending these either way but if anyone wants them let me know and i could post them to you if they go for the price you want (allowing for about $80 postage).

Test Drivers Getting Fines On My Behalf!
KiwiRS4T replied to Unbalanced's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I would not let anyone take my car without me in it (the car and keys they leave behind could be stolen). In NZ your car can be seized immediately and impounded for three months for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50km/hr regardless of whether or not the driver owns the vehicle (not that hard to do 100km/hr in a city zone) so I would be laying down the law to any test pilots. Also I would want to see their driving licence and write down their details before letting them near the wheel. Regarding the tickets get a copy of the relevant legislation (may be in the small print on the ticket) and/or see a lawyer. For example on a speeding ticket i have it says "You give a statutory declaration 1. Identifying the driver, by giving the name and address of the driver or such other particulars within your knowledge as may lead to the identification of the driver; or 2. Establishing that you could not identify the driver, after taking all reasonable steps to do so" This could include supply to the police any numbers which may be left on your cell phone if they are from the culprits. You could also supply copies of any for sale ads etc to back up ypour explanation. Good luck but be more careful in the future! -
Turbo Whine, Loud! Then Silence? Shitza!
KiwiRS4T replied to Vesza's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yep under consumer legislation in NZ they would be required to fix it (replace the turbo with a good one) or offer you the choice of another similar car or your money back. I am sure there is similar legislation in Aus which no guarantee can void. Rebuild would be around $2000 plus turbo in and out say another $500 so best dealer pays for it. -
Get a price on the springs first - should be no more than $400
