Which should I go with GTX2863, 2530, or 2860-5
sneakey pete replied to Trailmix's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah you only hear about the single turbo builds where people go all out and get an EFR and TS manifold and then buy a stroker kit while they're at it because well you've gone this far.... half decent manifolds are cheap and so are medium sized turbos -
Exhaust Manifold's - 6boost & Crg
sneakey pete replied to MC-WOSHY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
For what its worth i needed to use a banjo for the oil feed on my custom one at the top of the page. Also the stud at cyl 6 while not needing to be shorterend, isn't able to fit a bolt on so you kinda need to thread a bolt on with the manifold not sitting flush. Guess that'st he trade off. I presume that the CRG one is a size smaller pipe so a smaller radius etc so sits closer -

drilling it is scary -
Wait to see what real world results look like. Could be good, though the new turbine material isn't much less dense than the existing type, and not like the ERFs

Already spoken to the builder, they've said they'll take it back and fix it. They did supply the pistons/kit. -

Yep. It sitting in the bottom of the oil pan would probably have told the story a bit better, but yep. where there's one theres probably 5 more. So its engine out time... again. 2 years to the day when it blew up in 3 days time. -

Was going to say i get more boost sooner with my EFR but its got .2L and 260x11 cams behind it. Glad i didnt install these on mine now. Will be interested seeing how old mate whos got them goes using the stock port shrouded front covers. -

probably American HP not Australian HP so could be possible. Still waiting to turn mine up, between needing to fix an oil leak on the turbo oil return and WTAC and work haven't had much motivation/time to get back to it. -

mines been rock solid but not sure i would have stabbed throttle enough to see. For those playing at home what boost control setup do you have? -
they didn't end up making it though...

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

Finally got some more tuning done, switched tuners again, long story. Have got more ignition advance in now and it doesn't run at AFR's of 10.5:1..... I've got 14psi of springs in the IWG-75 now. very impressive. boost seems to be holding at 14.5psi without any boost control enganged, still playing around with that one trying to sort out some issues. Still manages to hit full boost by 4000-4200ish rpm even with 50-60% throttle though (not sure any more would make it any faster). Car is very driveable around town, builds speed very quick above 3000rpm and over 4000 it hammers. Downchanged to second at 70k's an hour and stood on it and got a pleasant surprise, its just instant bulk power! -
I was under the impression that most aftermaket ECU's can't sample the data properly due to the way they're designed, in terms of the actual resolution of data side of things. (ie what a 24 tooth wheel in cas disc would be aimed at). Issues regarding moving it to the crank is another (related) thing entirely

No tune for a few more weeks still. Got 3.5" exhaust made up and moved the pod filter off of the turbo over to the old washer bottle spot so it can suck in air from the guard at least, so nothing really left to do apart form track down a very small oil leak (turbo drain i think) and a idle noise that started up (possibly new exhaust?) Went for a drive over nebo. Car wasnt exactly coming from a good palce for that but dayum its not half bad now... and will only get better with E85. Certainly don't think the 7670 would have been better enough to justify the 60+kw drop on the top end. -

I ended up going up a size to the 8374, and while I will be happy with it I also think I would have been quite happy with a 7670 aswell. Maybe even more so for day to day driving. i need to pull my finger out and fix the niggly issues and get it tuned on full boost and E85 though -
Meanwhile i'm just here using my -6 lines

Getting the dump out. I can't see any situation where jacking the car up wouldn't be possible though? But yes its only one thing (dump) you need to be under there for and i'm sure with the right combo of tools etc you could do it without jacking it up. I mean I once helped take one off in a holiday home back yard and it only took a couple of hours, its not terribly hard if you have some mechanical experience

Hope so, mine just left Austin... The 'Inconel' brand stuff kinda lost me at them trying to make it out like the inconel was what makes it insulate, and not that the inconcel is just the high temp protecting casing for whatever they use inside for insulation. And also the prices -

Thanks. I assume their B2 one fits twin and single scroll? edit: did a bit of a stalk and confirmed you have a 8374 TS IWG so it does -

Electric Power Steering Pump Conversion For Rb Engine
sneakey pete replied to 9krpm's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
13.6-13.8. Stock, and as far as i know, 24 year old, alternator. Given its only on 98 there might not be a terribly large amount of load on the walbros i suppose. -
Electric Power Steering Pump Conversion For Rb Engine
sneakey pete replied to 9krpm's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Funnily enough i got my car out to the track* for the first time with the pump today. No complaints! No idea about current but i've got twin walbros and this added to the mix of the normal system and no issues that I can see. Throw in twin thermos and maybe? Might have to see if i can get a current draw measuremnet taken some time during use. Mounted it under battery tray using astra mount with flat bar welded to create 3 points of attachment. Pass lines through old BoV vacum feed enlarged. Run down chassis rail past steering column to rack. Feed is -6 200 series line, return is just to barb with 3/8th or some size hose. Used exactly 1m of hose for return, feed was probably about that long. One of the rack fittings and the one in the PS pump are one size, one is one size smaller, any Speedflow/aeroflow etc bump fitting should do the trick. Used a local brand though did have leaks, re did them using some thread sealant and no issues since. *track being happylaps at lakeside, though I did get in a few 70-80% attack corners here and there -

Pretty much i'd imagine. Still don't think it would be worth the actual cost to do it anymore A friend made 365awkw wtih -7's on E85 and 25psi on a good motor. I'd say if you really do want more then its time to get -5s
