  1. Bit silly imo too. Seriously, the only reason the BC's aren't 'as good' is that the rear spring is too short by an inch to sit at stock height in the kit they send. The springs are only worth $50, for BC's or MCA. I love the MCA's in the evo, but until Josh explains to me why he designed them to be coilovers and how he strengthened the chassis to take the weight I can't recommend them. Nissan ran them separated like that for a reason...
  2. Oh, yes you can... After burning many thousands on highflow hack jobs over the years I can confirm this. Unfortunately, internally not all turbo's are the same. Some are designed to fail. Definitely use a braided line with a filter preferably, as that way they can't pull out the oil contamination card. No need to change the stock turbo until it lets go, unless you really want to. I have seen the stock turbo go for 250+ thousand in a well serviced car.
  3. I have fitted about 6 in the last few weeks, pretty common. Some brands require a fair bit of cutting so beware. Alloy ones can have their own issues, probably due to the Chinese quality control. I prefer the plastic tank M35 specific ones these days.
  4. Mine was doing the same thing, but I have no issues with my evo now I drilled the vac generator on the side of the pump housing to 4mm. It's not the reg as I use the same Turbosmart 1200. Is the tank lid all stock, or do you have an aftermarket setup?
  5. Use a 6 sided socket and breaker bar. Needs to be done tighter than a short spanner can manage.
  6. The IPDM isn't Vin coded or anything Alex, but it could be vehicle specific. As long as the part numbers are the same you will be ok, but the V35 IPDM is definitely different. Glad it isn't like the Audi's.
  7. Have you popped the bung out of the battery compartment yet? Could be filling with water, it's pretty common for electrical gremlins once the IPDM gets moisture in it.
  8. A clean air filter element would likely do that. What are you trying to prove? Hot air pods are ghey, I have never seen a decent race car running one. It's all about the cold air induction, and I am yet to see one better than the stock airbox on a Skyline.
  9. Yes, first port of call.
  10. Nothing wrong with the stock airbox, just retarded comments from people who should know better. Not everyone cares what happens on a dyno with the bonnet open. Some actually drive on the road.
  11. I did the same thing to my steel VQ rails, tig welding 6an stainless fittings to the end. Been there over 6 years now running e85 daily. I think e85 has had a very hard time breaking into the market with all these myths to overcome...
  12. Exhaust temp depends on where you mount the sensor, it should be just before the turbo. If you mount it in the dump the temp will read approximately 100c less from my testing.
  13. I think it actually flows worse than the stock one.
  14. I have been looking for the cancellation plugs myself, they are sold with Bride seats. I need a pair for a V35 but getting parts from Japan is hard with the language barrier. Nothing suitable on Yahoo afaik. The M35 and V35 should be the same resistor as the G35 or 350z, so look up what they use.
  15. To you it's a test car, to us it's a passion. What a shame, another VQ25det down the drain.
  16. I think you had better bleed the calliper again. Did you clamp the line at the calliper before removing the banjo? Otherwise it's a pain to rebleed the abs. It took me hours to bleed the last set of Brembo's I fitted, mainly as they were rebuilt which means there was no fluid around the piston. It can take a few decent pot holes to get the air from around the pistons to escape. Sometimes I tap the callipers with a soft hammer to release the bubbles. If it's spongy then likely it has air in the system still.
  17. Same box, but the tcu was moved into the valve body, along with using the different CAN interface. Manual 6 speed would be a better idea I think. No need to decipher the CAN if you leave the stock ecu in place and keep it happy. Will let you know tonight how that works out if you like, the link is getting tuned later this arvo.
  18. Looks like a bit of a hack job on the console, and I wonder how the cable throttle was done... Much rather the VQ25det personally, but hey, at least that one does skids.
  19. I had a similar conversation with a tuner the other day who cut me off when I was explaining the issues, it's much more complicated than it sounds. Yes it could work well if you have the total support of the ecu manufacturer and they have a test car to do the countless hours of R+D and testing. Even better would be to have Nissan on board to explain the weird protocol they decided to use. All this would be made much easier if the CAN used a standard OBD2 protocol, and that is likely why it will never happen. No need for all that anyway, it is possible to standalone the engine and keep the stock ecu happily running the throttle and cams. HKS did it years ago, and now the Link is up and running i am hoping some of the gearbox functions are easy to control directly. The CAN is way too slow imo anyway.
  20. Or rolling/clamping flat stainless in a jig which is what I would like to do. Then there is only one weld not four.
  21. I bought the same tank, but couldn't find anywhere to mount it without hacking. I could have made you an alloy version of that Bunnings part if you needed something with a barb. Not sure I would want to rely on that.
  22. Anywhere else such as where the airbox sits is going to limit the dump flow, I would mount it in the stock location, perhaps slightly tilted up at the front to help straighten the piping a little. Shame we can't swap the starter to the other side like the VQ30det. If the compressor housing is much larger than a GT30 TO4E? I think you will struggle in the stock location, mine only just fit. Apparently there is a GT35 in one somewhere, but damn it must be tight. You would want at least 10-15mm clearance from the chassis rail unless you want to run solid engine mounts.
  23. The stock knock sensor works well with a set of knock ears.
  24. I have had countless calliper sets, 32 gtr, 34gtt, 34gtr Brembo front Z33 brembo rear, now running 8 pot Ksports on the front. I have never needed to change the BMC.
  25. 6 sided socket, not 12. My end links are fine still. I doubt you will need to change them in 10 years if they were replaced.
