  1. Detonation isn't the only thing that will kill a motor mate. IMO his tuner has done a smart thing. On a built motor, ye lean it up a bit once its all running nicely... However a stocker motor demands the respect of owners wishes
  2. On the street? You know, where 99% of us do our driving I just came back from a DECA day (motorkhana) with my new GTR (350rwkw)... Not one car launched harder/faster. This included blown Monaro's on slicks that I believe run 10's with relative ease But yes, power is important to an extent - power delivery however is IMO the most important.
  3. More like the boost drops off. It's boost control, not tuner IMO. 17psi --> 15psi
  4. They are factory, and are designed to work as made - for many years. Quality is impeccable. Don't expect nice shiny colours though
  5. we used to have a IRC channel back 6-7yrs ago. issue now i can see is moderation of it. least with posts we can control it. Shit sometimes flew over the IRC channel that would go until a channel admin saw it ... that could be hours ill raise it in the admin area and see
  6. nope. was meant to be ready a good 6 months ago. cannot help that Prank was in a rather nasty accident that has had unfortunate effects. its like modding a car, you always say it'll be 8 weeks, but how long it really takes? you don't know till its done.
  7. lol E85, feeds both power and sugar addictions at once
  8. Winton Fun Days are usually very very busy, 80% is not even possible in a reasonably well set-up car. Better to attend a normal track day in that instance. Ok for slower vehicles/street tyred etc
  9. Nothing but a pipe dream. some of the best tuners is AUS have been unable to keep a stock RB26 running @ 600rwhp forever. Fact is, they die when you start chasing over 300rwkw (400rwhp). How long they last - totally subjective. N1 block - meh. Nothing of interest. GT-RS and only 500hp? Pointless. GT-RS are a 600rwhp(700hp+) MIN turbo setup. If you are not making 600rwhp, then GT-RS's offer nothing more than utterly pointless lag for the power.
  10. On low throttle, BOV leaks just a tad. Thus, the excess air is "bled" off, alleviating comp surge @ lower RPM's particularly on a TT set-up. So its stopping exactly what you say, too much air @ low RPM. As the leak @ idle/low RPM/load (vac controlled) it stops this low end surge.
  11. Ye in theory it'd be around that. Issue however is: They are 2nd hand So no less likely to fail than the ones you have in there now, which are fine for around 280-300rwkw
  12. Yep - it will be fine - if you get surge after full load, you just need to run the dual. But I would hedge a bet your set-up should be ok as I rarely noticed it doing it with ~17psi. Only 4th, full load on my car up a hill or something
  13. This: 19sec-22sec 28sec-32sec 39sec-43sec It wasn't quite letting off all the air and I had the tiniest of surge. Most noticeable @ the 39-43sec marker when it was a full 24psi. This was a 600HP GT30 so it was moving some air @ that boost level of course. The return line was the external diameter of the BOV outlet as well, so it wasn't that. Was a full size pipe, thin wall, to the T/B as well (whatever stock T/B size is).
  14. hehe, and he didn't tell us what he has decided overall unless I'm mistaken. Although - to the defence here, it might have been posted somewhere in the 11ty pages of this thread? Suspension, rim size, tyre size, spring rates - the works needs to be known. Hence i still reckon visiting the local track on a "GTR" frequented day, go from there
  15. Bit of interesting information for you mate I'm running 280rwkw, factory GTR dumps no problems (16psi or so) There are plenty of cars running 330rwkw through R33 dumps also (GT-SS turbo/Garrett -9s) I do believe the car I've purchased - and picking up tomorrow hopefully - has stock R33 GTR dumps and makes a lazy 350rwkw on some hybrid turbos I wouldn't necessarily class them as a major issue at all. 100% agree with borrowed time RE: turbos - 1bar IMO is too much. Be happy with 12psi, and let the motor live
  16. Ye soz - where it is, as stated, is fine mate. Im running 270/280rwkw, not a problem - 8,000km's as it is. What recirc BOV are you using? GTR BOV's cost for gain, are unbeatable value. Even a single GTR BOV is good for 300rwkw or so. Much more 2 is advisable as you get a tiny bit of surge (i was when running 24psi/370rwkw on single GTR BOV)
  17. I wouldn't run a atmo BOV. I only use GTR BOV's, which be design, leak @ idle - no atmo for me
  18. Have you done all these mods yet? Roy had a not so good experience with RB26 cams in his RB20... went back to factory in the end. For 250rwkw+ - stock motor/head, and the TD0X-XX turbo... just check the RB20 260rwkw thread and you'll find the exact ID. That way you get screamer as well just like him... Epic screamer RB20, standard with just the trust turbo kit... Still, it didnt sound as good as mine though LOL
  19. Near the T/B, just like factory. No issue having it pre-cooler however. I currently run that set-up now no issues. I'm sure there are others as well. RE: T/B size - pointless IMO. All it does is reduce throttle control and is proven to be no major restriction even @ 350rwkw.
  20. NFI why you were missed mate - no body told me - access granted now. Apologies. As for R35 class, not enough of those in the club yet either There are two lol... Your's and Geoff's considering Snowy sold his.
  21. Depends on everything else
