  1. lol stuffed if I can tell them apart now! seems to me like cockrane is desperately trying anything to save his crappy concept. hope the whole series continues to decline, and the money going into australian motorsport stops getting clogged up in one crappy street racing series with only 32 cars.
  2. sure did, thanks Mitch
  3. I am sure I can get hold of Gary if everyone is serious. He is no longer in the industry and has obviously sold selbys but he can still source stuff. Just don't expect quick turnarounds, he is only doing this sort of stuff on the side. BTW yes selby's are expensive....but they are making one off custom sway bars. when doing common models, whiteline have the advantage of being able to pay china to make twisted lumps of metal in the right general shape which is of course heap cheaper. None of which changes the fact that swaybars are an amazing upgrade for these cars.
  4. unfortunately life is not that simple. top nut first....you should always do it up tight. while a side effect may have been preloading the spring in your case, it's job is to hold the shock assembly together. re spring height and being captive....if the spring is too short to remain captive, you can either ignore it and live with the knocking noise (lots of race cars do but I think it's too annoying in a road car), or get helper springs. The helper spring is a very light spring that stops the main spring rattling.
  5. any power steering fluid will be fine, although nissan happily recommend their "special power steering fluid 2" which is about $1000per litre.
  6. looks like I have a seat for you too Matt....Kel can't get out of work
  7. if it is the nylon bush at the bottom of the shifter, nissan sell them for about 20c. they are identical to r31 skyline/d21 navara and most dealers have the part in stock I've had to replace 2 over the years, one on the gtr, one on my navara. however....the nylon bush just goes into the selector, when it is missing you should be still be able to find all the gears, the shifter will just move around heaps. If you can't select a gear maybe the bush is jammed somewhere? In both cases for me the bush must have fallen to the bottom of the box because I've had no problems since
  8. yeah aint that the truth....I managed to run the wrong tyres on sat in the dry, AND the wrong tyres on sunday in the wet! I rock!
  9. about bloody time you started this thread.
  10. yeah the weather was apalling, and so was the grip (both ends) in my car. I think the tyres were mostly to blame, those commodores drove past me like I was standing still....they easily had 10klm/h more at the apex. My best lap was 2.10 in race 3....Bob Pearson's emo did a 1.58. Outrageous
  11. Race 3, mid race: Race 3, last lap:
  12. yeah big one with Tyrell on the last lap exit of turn 3. nasty. but actually considering it was the last round, and everyone was racing for sheep stations, everyone was amazingly well behaved. youtube is going up now
  13. I was wrong. Race 2 no footage, car fogged up like crazy....best lap was a 2.17 and I was getting smashed. Race 3, lap 1:
  14. This weekend's races from Eastern Creek Race 1, Lap 1. rained just after the race....I thought I wanted a wet track
  15. btw looked like lofty had a crap weekend results wise...but still took the IPRA championship? If so, well done!
  16. well that was a hell of a day today. I've done some damp track laps before, but this was racing in the pissing down raining. I learned a lot, went 7 seconds faster in race 3 than my best in race 2. overall results were lousy, 8th and 9th, but it was brilliant fun. the car was rubbish in the wet...the commodores were clearly quicker. not sure if it was just tyres or something more, but I was nowhere. evil_chris...working oni the vids now. nothing from race 2 because the whole damn car was fogged up, the camera saw the same as me. SFA. turns out shampoo is great for stopping windows fogging up. thanks to Neil and Kel for persevering with helping out in rubbish conditions all weekend
  17. yes they require approval in the DIY section to keep it on track (still lots of people posting random stuff in there despite the forum description being "FYI ONLY!!! DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN HERE"). I have approved your topic this morning, thanks for posting up nice MSPAINT work too
  18. meh. its the biggest state race meet ever, so no wonder there are some people who think they are more special than everyone else. doesn't worry me, I will focus on what I need to do. it was OK today, very poor qualifying for me (11th) proving how damn quick production cars are going these days. For context, the Pro-duct emo Xs took the production car lap record easily....and even beat the improved production lap record. i just need $100k +$5k per round for tyres (actually they had 12 new ones waiting just for this round) and I will be in one in a flash anyway, I made a few spots during the race which was good, finished 7th. I ran medium tyres as a test but they were not a winner....3 out of 6 laps and they were gooooone.....very poor grip once they overheated. they will be no good for the 8 and 10 lap races tomorrow so I am back to the previous set. fingers crossed for tomorrow. If anyone wants to head out to eastern creek, entry is free (I guess ARDC figured they made enough money from the record entrant numbers). Also this round will be televised on Speed channel in the next month or 3.
  19. indeed...but auto only. also the location of the driveshafts is unlikely to be anywhere near the right place. better idea.....buy a rb30 block for a case of beer, put a 3.4l stroker crank in it. heaps of cubes but none of the don't fit problems.
  20. surely. an accident is an accident of course they will do anything they can to avoid paying.....hope the tow bar was engineered.....
  21. hahah you said rubber
  22. cool! Good Luck Reece, Zane and anyone else from SAU heading down!
  23. correct! keep in mind any decent tyre, slick or not is 450-500each. If you get something cheap there will be a reason.
  24. strange attitude considering a club is about like minded people working together on a common interest. Without clubs, who do you think would run events for you? anyway...CAMS is a confederation of clubs, so if you want a CAMS license you must be a current member of one of their clubs. I'm sure you can start your own club for difficult people who like cars. Cost runs to the thousands for incorporation, annual returns, memberships, audits etc.
  25. wellll actually. i have a set of slicks I am about to take off my rims because i need to run semis on them. 2x kumho slicks, used once. excellent condition. 2x falken slicks, well above their wear limiters but very old (past their best). $700 pick up in sydney. they are 240/610/17 which are a little small diameter....but worked fine. I had them on 17x8 rims on a gtr.
