Best coil packs for rb20det
BK replied to kevin.navarro's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just trying to reinforce how much of a quantum leap the 35 coils are are over what your proposing doing, compared to not changing the stock coil setup at all. If you don't already own the S2 coilpacks yet you could still change without a big cost difference👍 -

Out of curiosity, what is the 6875 like ? Just took my 32 for a drive and still think the 6466 is fckn mental, but have always wondered what a 6870 upwards turbo would be like realistically outside of drag use. -

Yeah with methanol and big auto stalls to get 1000psi of boost and all that - this is crazy 2000whp+ stuff - I like👍 -

So sell sub loom for coils and go to If only 180kw why are you even worried about deleting the ignitor when ignitor coils can handle heaps, like 400kw+. Sell sub loom, go to R35 kit if wanting the ignitor delete solution. Makes no sense to delete ignitor then run stock / splitfire S2 coils for the cost - complete waste of time really. -
Mine has always been cylinder 1. If compression test comes up good across all 6 it could still be a bad oil ring on 4.

Bad Walbro 255 or something else?
BK replied to Dustin Frazee's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Definitely unlikely for an unused fuel pump to be bad, but anything is possible. Go change your fuel filter first. -
Not good dude, to me it looks like oil on the plug. Go do a complete compression test for a start.

Fuel pums can stuff up permanently from sitting around. I've had multiple pumps from Nismo, Walbro and Bosch all do it, so just get another pump. -
These guys have been talking about condenser cores not compressors. Either way new for either is a $2K proposition or you rake what you can find used.

Yes absolutely. My Nitto 2.8 full counter weight billet crank came with a balancing report that it was tested to 10000rpm, and Nitto rate the 2.8 kit to 11krpm. The 2.7 kit interestingly is rated to 12krpm. The 2.8 billet crank weighs substantially more than the factory item too.

I do, I have the big piece. I might have the small coupling section too but it wasn't with it and could be anywhere at my Dad's black hole of a work area.

@John Murray I'm pretty sure I have this at the old man's place we removed from the white 32. I'll check when I go there soon to have a beer.

You know I'm gonna hold you to that and make a point to drop in now ! 😄 it's only 2300km or so away which is peanuts for us in the NT. How is the place ? Gotta be better than here with the extremely high crime and f**kwit rate. I grew up on the Boulevard, raced motocross at Waaia and went to Gowrie Street primary as a little tacker in the 80s - loved it down there back then. My neice still lives there so I'll be down at some stage, so your 33 better be running by then 👍 Being Victoria, how do you think you'll go with registration for it ? I think about this for our single turbo GTRs when we move away...NT is a bit like who you know for rego sometimes as we have yearly pit inspections for cars over 10 years old which complicates matters. That said you still see shit like this running around every day - at least the have some windows What a surprise. Cops are f**ken useless here... -

No thread hijack at all, it's all relevant here. I'm surprised the EFR has such a small drain port. An oil reg would definitely help here with any sizing concerns for sure. -

Another big day at the King workshop. It was one of those Castle- like moments, as in "Oh Steve could you move the Camira I need to get the Torana out so I can get to the Commodore. Steve – I’ll have to get the keys to the Cortina if I’m gonna move that Camira. Darryl – Yeah watch the boat mate" In this case it was more "could you move the blue GTR ? I need to the WRX to get to the white GTR and put the Territory there, so move the blue GTR next to the XR6. Watch the Hilux mate" Too much shit going on - doing the white GTR bottom end rebuild while doing a complete SY series II front end suspension conversion- look up SX / SY territory front end failures to see why. I hate weekends at the moment 😡 -

Here is dash 10 at around 13.5mm inside and I'm probably / defintely stretching this. Dash 10 anything should not be used for turbo drain ever. -

They have actually a port matched square AN12 available as per a YouTube video online. Again, 5/8" or 16mm is the minimum. Dash 10 is not even in the ballpark for this. -

That's right, no pressure so you want it as big as possible the whole way from the turbo to the block / sump. If the Aeroflow flex has AN10 female fittings, which it does, it will still probably be too small internally on in the pipe. Here is the smallest part on the oil drain which is into the block and its bigger than 17mm ID in the 3/4" barb- Here's the drain on a 6266 and 6466 around 19mm square. Not sure how big your Borg Warner is but I'd assume It'd be similar. Now I need a new drain gasket as I pulled the turbo off for this and killed it 😆 -

In the unlikely event you need a head sourcing one from here in Australia would be the go, even with the cost of freight. If you need new genuine parts I would be not using Amayama at the moment. They are becoming increasingly painfully slow to source parts - expect at least around 2 - 3 month wait from time of order. Used to be awesome and are still reliable - if you can wait forever that is. Since the start of the pandemic they have gotten worse over time. If I get my current order from the start of the year by Easter I'll be surprised. For genuine I've gone back to my original direct Japanese source of JP car parts. You will get most stuff at around 2 weeks - they are awesome. The difference is JP car parts are actually in Osaka Japan, and only source and dispatch from Japan unlike Amayama. -

I have to take a pic of the blue 32 oil drain but it's nothing special really, just decently sized hose and fittings. If your flex pipe thingy has AN10, I wouldn't use it myself. Go measure up the inside of all the pipes report the smallest size - if any of it is under 15mm at any point I would be concerned. The male flare holes are generally always the choke point. Can you get AN12 flex pipe ? I can't see one. Even the Platinum trick looking drainpipe kit is AN10 ! Got me fked why it's nearly all AN10 with most of this turbo oil drain stuff, as that's bloody smaller than the factory 3/4bsp to barb fitting on the front turbo block oil return. Try find AN12 stuff, as there is definitely 3/4bsp to AN12 male fittings available for the block and 51mm flange to male AN12 turbo drain fittings out there. -

Get in quick if you want a non Nismo heritage genuine Nissan one with the wiring, as they only have a handful left and aren't completely stupid money. Even comes with globes, new guard corner screw and plastic captive guard thread. -

Turbosmart themselves say specifically not to do this in their instructions: OPR Instructions 2017.03.20.pdf CAUTION! Do not place the OPR return together with the turbo drain line as this will interfere with the function of the turbo drain and may cause issues with the turbocharger oil system. Sorry but there's no way I would compromise the turbo drain capacity to limit pressure to the oil feed, as that to me is a completely counter-intuitive solution. Sharing lines can create a problem that didn't exist before. People have been running turbos forever without oil regs and a lot do not have problems. Since the sump is getting modded now provisions will be made for extra fittings on it if I decide its required though, as a reg bypass would be direct to sump separately. -

So are you saying your actual turbo drain and OPR big bypass drain share the same return ? If so that would be a big no no.
