Just ordered an organic 34 GTT clutch with 3300lb of clamping force. Should be fine for 250rwkw (hi flow turbo). Quoted $935 exchange delivered plus $275 deposit until I return my one.

Standard clamping force is 1600-1700lb and they have roughly 140-150rwkw stock, so double the clamping force is roughly double the power. So should handle ~280rwkw.

Cant wait to see how it goes! Sick of the revs flaring under a hard 1-2 gear change :)

put a jim berry clutch in my car just on a week ago now and it is the best clutch iv'e ever driven on, it's a single organic and it's street car friendly but it grips real well too, good customer service, i think it's good too put your trust for a product into a person who's had the experience a guy like jim has had

Ok got the clutch installed yesterday. After copping lots of abuse from the japanese mechanic about why I didnt just fit an exedy HD clutch. He kept saying that I fit another standard one, I kept saying no its not standard etc etc.

Whatever, so I jumped in the car and first of all thought they hadnt actually changed the clutches cause it felt the same as standard driveability wise. Drove sedately for a while and yeah the gripping point is very slightly narrower but not noticeable. The driveability is sensational.

Then came time for the real test, gave it some stick in first and went to do a quick change to 2nd, clutch grips and the rear wheels start spinning / axel tramping! Mind you I only have 190rwkw so Im not testing it out power wise but what a difference.

I have put more power to the side now, next issue dam AXLE TRAMP!!

So far the clutch is exactly as promised, very happy. Dont listen to silly mechanics!

After plenty of reading on a clutch upgrade for 250-260rwkw for street/occassional drag runs (just to see what the power feels like legally  ), I just want to know what the difference between a button clutch and a jb clutch (single plate?) is..

My ATS Twin Plate Rebuilt by JB is in transit, after speaking with Jim I'm sure it will do everything I want it too for a very long time.

Come with insurance in the form of Front Gearbox Seal and Rear Main Seal,

Awesome to deal with and Quick turnaround!!!

I've heard very good things about the nismo coppermix, I am still a massive fan for the jb full monty

I'm running 405awkw with 930nm and this single plate with 4400lbs pressure plate holds like my os giken triple plate and exedy twin plate BUT drives almost like a factory clutch!

I will never buy another multi plate clutch, dreadful to drive...

i spoke to jim berry last week, told him my plans with the car etc and he recomended an organic plate with 3800 lbs clamp load

i told him i wanted a street friendly clutch that could handle 300awkw for the future/no track use

great guy to deal/talk with, got the clutch coming end of next week :)

Had my full monty for about 6 months now, got about 350awkw on high boost. Have never really challenged the clutch, never dumped it, hasn't seen a single track day so just day to day street driving. First launch (low boost) it died, I too am very very disappointed...

that is surprising - did u install the clutch?

one of the tricks is to use graphite powder for the thrust bearing slide rather than grease as directed by jim berry...have u spoken to jim about this?

im sure if its a mechanical fault he will look after u

I have spoken to Jim and he was quite helpful but the conversation was predominantly about fault finding the clutch issue which I documented and provided the clutch specialist who installed the clutch initially. I'm waiting to hear back from clutch specialist as he said he was going to speak to Jim about so we'll see what happens after that conversation...

Definitely sounds like the guy to talk to. I can afford a decent clutch but don't anticipate putting a lot of power through it for a while so I'd like to get something tough enough to handle normal street driving with a fairly stock RB26. Doesn't need to be able to handle massive power yet as by the time I can afford those engine mods I'll probably be due for my next clutch. I just want something reliable ... the one I've got has a firm pedal but I'm used to it now, so as long as it's not worse I'll be happy.

+1 for Jims clutches. Full Monty 4300lbs carbonic 5 puk sprung center, feels like a stocker.

Over a year of absolute punishment with over 500rwhp.

Stock flywheel.

Broken 2 boxes and 1 diff with this clutch :(

When using the "full monty" and driving in traffic do you take car out of gear and take foot off clutch pedal when stopped moving...?

Mine was great I loved it and was raped everytime I drove the car. Would do standing start powerskids in 3rd gear and never slipped (drop clutch in 3rd) and 4th gear clutch kicks @ 100kph.

Shame about the broken gearbox parts..... but was great fun :(

hey guys having a problem with my r32 GTS seems to have slack in the drive train because when im doing 60km/h on constant throttle on flat or down hill it seems to well i gues the best word to deskribe it is bunny hop but it it only slightly still verry anoying i thought it was the diff because i knew it was buggered but new diff in today and all the other clunking has stoped but this problem still persists. i am having slight trouble with the idle control valve thing cant remember exactly what uts called so it could be the engin doing something funny but i realy think it is drivetrain related rather than engin related. any idears? also idle control skrew wound all the way in and i cant get idle any lower than 1500 RPM any idears?

Well, after installing my Jim Berry clutch I figured I'd better jump on the bandwagon. Guys, if you ever do one decent mod to your car, get the Full Monty. Drives so much like stock I almost wanted to rip it out cause I thought it was defective. I don't ever recall my standard clutch being that light. Oh, ok, it takes up as quick as the Exedy cushioned button I had in it but after the initial run in period it is just perfect. Money well spent. At first I was dissapointed when I put the money into Jim's account and half an hour later I get a phone call from someone to say he has a twin plate for me. But as I said, I am so glad fate made things work out the way they did. Take my word for it, spend the money, get a Full Monty.

    • I sense an out of control build thread coming up lololol. That 450kW goal will end up being 600 to 700kW LOL.
    • Nice, thanks for sharing your progress....that's a pretty long list you are putting into it!
    • Decided to upgrade my pressurised plastic coolant expansion tank for a fancy pants alloy version The OEM versions can get brittle, even the new plastic one I got when I first got the car is a starting to show signs of "stress" I wasn't cheap, but it is basically unbreakable
    • Morning all, I have an RB25DET Neo that's in need of a rebuild. Will need new pistons etc due to detonation damage. Would anyone be able to recommend a shop in Southeast Queensland who I could bring my long motor to for a rebuild? Just want someone who knows RBs and whos built a bunch of them before. TLDR - recommended engine shops for RB rebuild.
    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project. Current Mods - 200ish KW according to butt dyno Was tuned with Apexi PowerFC EBC (old school Greddy Profec)  Stock turbo (more shaft play than a Tinder date gone right) 3inch turbo back Varex muffler  Aftermarket injectors of mystery size, Power FC showed 36% duty cycle at full boost so not behd good size Someone had good intentions but stuck with the stock R33 MAF so we had misfires at 6000rpm due to the MAF hitting 5.2V So far I’ve redone the entire interior with carpet form Car Mats Direct, new Seats and steering wheel from Autotechnica, also sound system by Autobarn (mainly Kicker) Also MCA pro comfort coil overs - Hands down best purchase yet, worlds of improvement over the tired 30yrold shocks Goals - 450kw/600hp on flex tune New paint job - Midnight Purple 2 Engine is at the shop getting rebuilt with forged rods a pistons, new valves and springs, ATI Harmonic balancer, Aeroflow 7.5L sump, rear head drain and oil restrictors as per oil control thread* and cam covers modded for larger breathers, other stuff I can’t recall of the top of my head Parts purchased and to be installed once the engine is done -  Engine loom from Wiring Specialties including these options: Haltech Nexus S3 R35 Coil pack conversion  PRP Dual Trigger kit Fan controller  Other Parts -  262 Kelford Cams Turbo - Hypergear ATR43SS3-ProS with T51R mod (whistly boi) 6 boost manifold (high mount) 50mm Turbosmart Pro gate (plumbed back for legal reasons) HKS Super Turbo Exhaust with High Flow Cat Custom 3.5inch dump and front pipe 1500cc Bosch injectors  Fuel Pump walbro 525 Haltech MAP and IAT sensors Haltech Flex Sensor Fenix Radiator with dual thermo fans LS1 Alternator Kit Oil Filter Relocation from EFI solutions and Cooling pro oil cooler Many other things sitting in my garage waiting for that engine to come back.
