we cant compare a NA motor with a turbomotor

im saying i think you'd have better results if you were intent on building an NA inline 6 with 2.6 litres capacity.

comparing NA to turbo is like comparing apples with oranges.

ah f**k it, why dont we just get some e46 BMW M3 front cuts out of japan and run those motors...

3.6 litres

6 throttles

high compression

246 kw NA power

how much do they go for?

Yeah i was thinking about driveability on a daily basis, not really anything else

But yeah, for sure those M3 motors are quick, you sure dont need a turbo to go fast

i'd say it would be a considerable expense for an E46 cut

but this is a picture from a car for sale on the auctions at the moment, an E36 for 1 , 900 000 Y which is about 21 grand.

NA power is great, the noise is fantastic and the ability to thrash all day long is confidence inspiring... but for the money you need to spend, you can always make double, if not triple the horsepower using a turbocharger

I am building (and have been for quite some time...) a stroker RB.

compression 13:1

3.4litre capacity

gtr throttle bodies

custom titanium oversize valves

Am looking at putting out around 350 - 400 HP

does that count?

Yes I've heard about your little build.

Very nice. How is it coming along?

  • 3 years later...

There is not enough meat in an RB30 crank to get 3.4L and due to the fact the thread is 4 year old I doubt it ever existed, sounds a bit like a "look how cool I am thread" with no real evidence to back it up.

slloetteR would have something out soon.

It's an RB2630DE, and will soon be reborn and rebuilt with 290deg cams or something crazy big sump etc.

So should out do it's previous 150RWKW on stock 26 cams.

and theres my rb30/26 which ive been saving, researching all the parts, doing alot of maths, machining, planning so it is all done right the first time for the past 2 years, should be going in sometime in november, (will be upgrading the gearbox and diff next year)

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
