My Factory AIR/NAV/TV system has a 'filter' symbol on the screen, shown during diagnostic mode, i assume this will appear when the air flow is slowed by the dirty filters. Sorry forgot to take photos.

whoa... a diagnostic mode for the xanavi system? cool! can it do consult?

There is a section in the STAGEA workshop manual for xanavi and consult system, although would probably display in japanese. Also appears to be a manual diagnostic which unlocks all sorts of hidden menu screens.

The manual diagnostic mode for the air con system is activated by holding down the OFF button after turning on IGN power.

Here are some pics for the curious, these are from an R34, but the instructions are the same for XANAVI and normal AC systems in Stageas.

interesting the a diagram from the workshop manual displays 'air conditioner' in english, whereas mine is in Japanese, maybe it can be changed through CONSULT ??

Some good info... not sure if I'm gonna keep the Xanavi at this stage or not, since I can't read Japanese :D It does look cool though and has lots of functions, and I like the colour climate display.

Looks like I've got a smoker's car; ash tray used a little (but not heavily) and cigar smell; gotta check that filter probably black

did mine today sticker in glove box said done 20 thousand ago but was still filthy all clean now

you inspired me today mike, i got under there and pulled them out. one slight issue for me was the (aftermarket) speaker wire has been threaded through one of the plastic parts making it a bit a pain to get the clearance to pull the filters.

otherwise a pretty easy job.

just out curiosity, does anyone know if it possible to remove the heater cores on S2 stageas without removing the whole dash. it looks fairly accessible through the glove box. i have been putting off replacing my broken heater core in my R33 due the pain of getting to it.

After cleaning mine today, i just thought id dredge up an old thread and let the newbies know, and remind us oldies, that they have an Air conditioner cabin filter in there Stagea that most probably has never been cleaned.

Thanks for the tip, another job for the list............and how was your filter looking after breathing that fine Queensland air since you cleaned it last?

richard

sorry guys i have pics of doing this for an M35 as well. been slack editing my italy pic trips instead of this.

ill post up, piss easy job, and i thought they were actually black till i bought a new one from nissan. turns out they start life white in colour

Just took mine out then and it was a peice of cake!.. If only Holdens were as easy to pull apart as Stagea's.. Filters were filty as, looked like they had never had a clean.. there now soaking in washing detergant hopefully hey come up good as new!

Call me stupid ,but i tried to remove mine, took the glove box out, three screws and two metal clips ,it's still stuck .Discovered somebody was there before me the strip of plastic in front of it had been cut...

ok here are the pics of the filter location for M35 (V35 too i guess)

this is after removing the glovebox, i assume most people can manage that so i didnt photograph it.

The first pic is the location of the filter. pretty easy.

on the left is the clip that opens the door (pic 2) to remove the filter.

when you put the new filter back in, be careful not to squash your filter. there are locator things that stick out of the door. the filter resides in the top half of the gap.

my old filter was squashed and didnt filter too well, it was also black as shit.

the 3rd pic is the part number of the filter. its very much available in australia.

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
