Hey Jack who took those pics?

I was wondering if my brakes were glowing on the last few sessions of the night, as it started to get a bit hard to make it into corners hehehe.

bigger brakes definatly haver to go one now.

Hey all, I'm fine and the car is also fine. What happened had Nothing to do with wet conditions or rear wheel drive. The car was handling great and going strong until I got impatient stuck behind a slower driver. I was lucky to get away with such minor damage.. it's the first time I've had an accident so I'm disappointed and pissed off with myself more than anything.

For the record -- I know the rules and was not intentionally disobeying the flags. I thought after the hats were finished that I was allowed to pass so I pulled out when the surface changed and bang there was a hat there which I hit front on and spun around then trying to keep the car straight while sliding in reverse at over 120km/h

It was a stupid mistake and shouldn't have happened. As expected the clerk of course had strong words to me about it but I knew it was my fault so I let him have his rant. It would have been more professional of him to talk with me in private though.

Justine - Tom was pushing you to go out more than I was! I said if you didn't feel up to it then don't go out, I knew how tired you were

Jack - wish you had the camera on hey!

Anyway.. car is going into the shop this week to put my new engine in which has been ready to go for a while. I'll see you Team Wang guys at Philip Island

Good to hear you are fine mate and I know how you feel r.e pissed off with yourself. Look forward to seeing it back in action at PI.

Fark me...so 260rwkws isnt enough? What sort of numbers will the RB30 be making? It will be interesting to see how the handling is affected....oh and give me a drive. :(

As if 260rwkw's is enough... :(

BTW - we will be counting the times set on the Long Track for the Club Championship for this round.

Pretty much everyone in the same classes were on the track at the same times so there is no issues here that I can see.

no way is 260 enough...its standard with every1 running hi-flow etc these days.

My new motor will only be makign about 260-280rwkws, but with loads more drivability. With some good fuel and more boost it may make 300odd but its still a long way of beign finished.

If you ever make your mind up and build the damn thing! :D

I think we should count the aggregate of the best two laps, one long and one short.

(edit)

I did suggest an aggregate of both sessions, but what does it matter, kepp it simple --- the Stig SMASHED us in both... We gotta slow him down somehow....

WOOHOO!! My first FTD and 25 championship points... Don't think it will happen again anytime soon, can't see me doing 1:45's at PI... Oh well, I'll be chasing 2nd place....!!

Not enough folding stuff to finish it. So until i do ill just stick with my selection of parts between two states :P

Good work Jack...but did we all see the times Matt was doing? Good work by the man. He was punting the thing well for a pretty powerful rwd car. The extra weight seems to help in the wet.

Yes, Matt was doing very well, must be the 'GTR stance' the car has now.... Cheater! :P

Have read in plenty of articles that higher weight helps with traction in the wet as it applies a larger normal force to the tyres which helps it force out the water.

I have also heard drivers talking about the old Grp A cars and the comment was the VN Grp A were pretty good in the wet as they had a little bit of aero and the weight of them helps with grip. Though i imagine when the let go they let go

    • Given you're running a 2.8 and my 2.5 is not really like for like, I suspect there could be a bit more timing you could give it. What is the kW yield per degree you're putting through it? Here's my E85 map to give you an idea, where it was I could still get another 3~4kW per degree thrown at it.
    • It turns out that Setrab make a fan specifically for the oil cooler which is great and I've installed it with minimal swearing. I removed my 2x 12in push fans from the front of my aircon condenser and wired them into this. My main thermo fans kick on when I use the aircon anyway and would effectively already be working as puller fans through the condensor which is infront of the rad. The push fans (understandably) didn't really do much in the config they were previously in so now they're out. Now we're on to the "Oil fan doesn't really do much either!". Yes I'll duct it next if it does nothing in heavy use which it shouldn't. But hey, the object exists and fits great and is cool. Let me have this. The car is still in the "do my fittings leak oil now? do my wheels actually rub?" phase. I did a spirited drive on them and didn't hear or feel anything. Then I got back home and noticed there were grind marks on the inside of the rims, though I couldn't see where they were touching I got out the grinder and attacked the suspects. Note: I do not know how to use a grinder. Then I realised I had dragged my new rims across my concrete driveway before I did this drive. I didn't think I had damage at that time when I briefly looked...... but remembered this occurred after I did all the angle grinding. The grinding on the wheels in some very specific spots. It's not around the whole rim for example, which lines up with dragging it across concrete more than hitting a suspension component for even 1 full rotation. So everything is currently painted and taped up and I need to test it some more to see if it really IS rubbing, but from inside the car it doesn't feel like it is. In other news I attempted to do a before and after comparison of the heads/cam upgrade thing. Dynos lie, everything is in different measurements. Here is the data from the sandown back straight. Car go faster than before. Vroom vroom.
    • Here's my base ignition. +3 correction to redline when shooting water/meth which is always on. Looking at my old ignition table, I should be able to add 1-2 degree's next time I'm on the dyno.  Let me know your thoughts.
    • Given what I know now - same haha, but this was 12 years ago with second hand 740cc Nismo injectors in my S15 daily, I was too busy hunting elsewhere for the issue to even look at the injectors, running through some cleaner was a happy coincidence haha
    • Not a terrible idea. But if I ever had concerns that my injectors were sufficiently dirty to be causing me a problem, they would be out of the engine and onto the actual injector cleaner/testing bench.
