Hi guys,

just wondering what my options are for front camber kits?

I was just going to buy all the things from the SK group buy but the whiteline camber kits don't seem to be easily adjustable (or have a great range of adjustment). So just wondering what other camber options are there?

i believer you can get adjustable arms or something? Like you pop the bonnet and can adjust the camber from the top?

and there's also strut adjustment kits or something? I believe coilovers let you adjust camber??

just wondering what other options there are beside the whiteline kits with the yellow cirlce things and silver arms

coilovers can only adjust camber on macpherson style struts. Skylines however do not have this style. Only silvias and the likes do. You will need camber arms. I just purchased camber kit and got half a degree more camber than stock.. not a great deal. Next time ill go for full adjustablke justjap arms. they go to 4 degrees

that's what i was told, like a 4 degree change if need be... justjap, i'll check it out...

ideally, i'd like to run a setting that gives me even tyre wear on the street, but something where i can dial in a good amount of neg camber for track days...

for those with the SK kits, how have you found your tyre wear?

depends how you drive on the street will depend on tyre wear. I cant comment only havnig installe for 200km so far.

But my brother s14a has 2.5 derees neg camber, drives like a nut and his outside is wearing.. indicating the need of more camber till it wears even

Ive got the full syd kid set up in my 33.

Im on the same thinking, I need more front neg camber and for some reason I can't even get close to -2. As my 33 is basically used now for the track, I dont really care about the wear on the street, my r31 does the daily driving :D

Im looking into the adjustable arms also.

Wondering if they would work well with the sydkid set up I currently have and which ones are the best or affordable on the market?

you wont get 4 degrees neg out of the dogbone shape arms. they may have 4 degrees of adjustment, but about 2.5-3 degrees of that is less neg than stock, and the other 1-1.5 is more than stock (what you want). the most I could get with them as short as they go was about 2.2 or 2.5 degrees, then the two halves touch inside the cuff. if you can be bothered you can take them apart and get someone to cut down each end or do what I did and buy something else. those arms (and most others too) are desinged to correct too much camber on lowered cars so they are great for lengthening the rod, but don't go much shorter than standard :teehee:

evil: i know you're not concerned about tyre wear on your R33, but are the insides of your front tyres being chopped out??

i looked at justjap.com and they have a lot of suspension stuff, lots of "adjustable arms" but have NFI what was for what as they've got no descriptions, or say what they do.

Seemed to be around $300-$400

I had the whileline adjustable bushes and it didnt give me enough adjustment, so i went with the noltec upper arms as suggested by Heasmans. They're bushed so should last well. $524 now tho... Whether you need the extra adjustability is hard to tell until the rest of it is setup (especially ride height).

well cusco don't make adjustable UCAs for R32s, but they may for 33s and 34s. but basically if you want more camber then you need to cut and shut a standard arm (sounds dodgey but is actually a good solution if done well), or modify the dog bone arms (wouldn't reccomend that). I have the noltec arms too and I get just over 3 degrees with them so they are better but not as much scope as I would like. cusco do make fixed length arms, but having adjustment is a good idea.

I have the ones Mr Kotter pictured - they work well and lots of adjustment.

Dan - if it's primarily going to be a street car the SK kit will be fine - you don't need -3+ front camber on the street...

also the more harsh the bushes the shitter the compliance (obviously) but it gets less and less nice to drive on the street.

check my car out at show and shine in Dec and you'll see alot of the arms are now rose jointed which are shit on the street and flog out easily on crap melb roads.

SS8 - umm..yeah it is noticeable! Ive rotated my semi's a bit and you can see the constant weat. its not heaps bad but I just want more neg @ the front :yes:

when I didnt have any adjustment in the rears a while ago, it was the same as that (when I first got the springs and shocks, the rear insides worn out heaps)

jesus, how much camber are you guys trying to run? what springs and swaybars are you running? is the temperature even across the tyre face if you check it after a hot lap?

my initial thoughts too.

spend more time getting the correct alignment setup (toe, camber, height & castor). more is not always better.

i'm sure there's a combination in your current settings that will make you happy.

I got 3.5degress neg camber from the JJR dogbone arms on my 32 GTR.

The amount of camber people are getting may change a little dependign on ride heights.

The big thing which noone has mentioned is what tyres are you using. I dont see any need to go over -2.25 provided you have sufficient castor and good street tyres.

If you are going to semi slicks then i would consider you may need to go to -3.5 camber to get even tyre wear/temps accross the face of the tyre

I got my dog bone arms from Japan and I thought I'd max them out on the wheel aligning machine for shits and giggles. They maxed out at 5deg, so they give more than enough adjustment. They're not too expensive on the yahoo auctions for brand new one's either, around the same price as the Noltec ones. They wont slip under load, but will give lots of NVH.

KTS also make them (dogbone style), and there is a local distributer for them, but I cant quite remember who at the moment, but they also quoted me a similar price to the Noltecs.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
