Damn this is a long ,interesting, at times bafflingly technical read, damn cool.

Some Kiwi guy did ask an wasnt answered but as I am keen to know too I will ask again

What other cars will this work on??? Cima, Cedric, etc, etc?????

am pretty keen on getting either or at the moment an curious if this conversion would work????

Gotta say impressive work by all involved, really is.

The Xanavi conversion will only work Series 1 V35 and M35's (2001 - early 2004).

A conversion for the series 2 (2004 - 2007) is being worked on but is taking longer than anticipated and will hopefully ready by second quarter 2011.

Hi Andy,

This is one of the things on the "to do list for 2011". As well as the Navi conversion.

Whats causing the bugs in the series 2 conversion ?

Cheers

Elie

I am not a programmer but I am told it is a totally different system so many new solutions required.

Just to add to the previous post, any developments on when the Series 2 conversion may be ready?

Would love to give you a due date but really do not know a fixed date at this stage. As the developer has moved to the US and this has made the installation process a little more difficult so he is working on automating the license process. Once this is complete the developer will work on finalizing the series 2 conversion.

Cheers

Andy

WOW! I have finally finished reading ALL 50 PAGES, 15 of them today, and now my head feels like it wants to explode. Im getting my M35 Stagea soon, hence why I am reading up on this subject.

Hey Andy good work on the conversion, coming from a club background I know what its like to do things for the club to promote and make members rides just that little bit better if not a lot. Hopefully the move to the US for your russsian contact doesnt slow the conversion :ermm: too much.

Got a question re the tv tuners though, I did read there is the Asuka tuners but I also did see a link for the HiTV tuners. Are you guys supplying both or just one, even though from the quick look at the Hitv, the Asuka looks better with the usb and hdmi jacks; though from previous experience with stb's I have had the rs-232 port can come in handy for firmware upgrades if needed. If you are doing the HiTv, what's the price and what experiences have people had with these if any.

Going to take some Neurofen now!!

Hi Guys,

Just bought myself a 2001 Stagea M35 250T a couple of weeks ago.

After reading though all the pages here I thought I have a chance on being able to use the Navi LCD in english or at least get to the "economy" screen.

But unfortunately the unit I have is the Birdview XFD7210 model. :/

Does anyone here know what model/part number the 2001-2003 xanavi unit? Or maybe have a spare one I can buy to replace this "newer"crap model I have here.

I'm located in Auckland New Zealand.

Cheers,

Roel

i have a complete working factory navi with screen, DVD ROM (for maps not video), tv tuner and all wiring.

also have the rear windows with the antennas in it.

the good thing is, its from an RX, so its the right colour for your car!

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
