Hey guys this is my first post!. I have a 2005 G35 coupe, but thats not what I have a question about. My friend has a 2001 Nissan R34 GT-T, and he is looking to upgrade the turbo. He is looking for more power than the stock ceramic turbo offers. He told me that there is no "turbo kit" made for his car, and that most of the pieces have to be custom made, is that correct? Also the turbo he wants to put on the car is a Garrett GT3670, what do you guys think about that turbo for street use?. Currently he had an apexi turbo-back, apexi filter, ecu, front mount ic, and step colder plugs. Also he plans to put cams in the car. Let me know what you think of this set-up, and if you know of any parts pre-fabed for this car for a bigger turbo like turbo piping, intercooler piping, exhaust manifolds, ect. Also we are located in the United States, so there are not too many shops around here that have answers for skyline questions.

Thanks in advance,

-Tom

there are HKS kits like the GT-RS and the GT 2835 Pro S that are made for the R34 GTT. maybe not as big as your planning, but they will have good response

and remember its still an Rb25, and alot of r33 turbo kits should bolt up

I talked to my friend again, he said he wants to make more power than this kit offeres. Do you know of any other kits, or have links to people who did custom turbo setups?

-Thanks again

Tom

You havent really said how much power he wants.

If he wants between 270-310rwkw(housing size depending) i would advise him to get this:

Yea, that is basically what I was looking to find? Is this a good kit? I mean it is HKS I see no reason why it wouldnt be good. Anyone try this and have good/bad luck? Also he is looking for around 400-430whp. I had to look up what kw is because we dont use that in the us, but he would want like 300+kw. He is also looking into getting a set of cams if anyone could tell me a good brand.

Thanks again guys.

any r33 kit fits a R34 with no issues.... sell about 6 a month to r34 owners...

What kit are you talking about? Also my friend would like to find a kit that has a top-mount turbo, is there such a thing??

Also if you guy want to see some pics, I am probably going single turbo on my G35 coupe!

GT30/40 should be enough, its been done with low mount manifold as well, if your friend wants to be a sleeper...this setup will suit your friend most since he wants to get cams upgrade.

I use GT35R but a lot of timing have to be taken out, have lots of lag and no cams upgrade, as the minimum tune possible is already around 300rwkw,, changing cams would slighylt increase power, and engine goes kapoof

Lots of good info on the forums.

maybe your friend should be actively researching himself?

But yes, HKS 2835 Pro S or HKS GTRS are good.

And you can get top mount or low mount.

Just get a manifold to suit.

We are having trouble finding quality top-mount manifolds, only the ones on ebay. Who makes a good top mount manifold?

(also I try searching through threads, but how do I change it so that I can see everyones post, as of now I have to click on each individual post)

My friend decided to get a polished Garrett Gt3076, and he got a manifold from these guys http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fl...intake+manifold

I think he is somewhere on this forum, but hasnet posted in this thread, he plans to have all of this work done sometime inthe begining of the new year. I'm sure he will start a build thread soon, and I will try and get a photoshoot of both our cars after we both get are turbos installed.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
