  • 1 month later...

few months back i was paying for petrol while hubby was in the car and the guy behind the counter goes is that a hurst??? like wtf???

does it really look like a hurst? its bright yellow for crying out loud

I was helping a mate move a nice mahogany wardrobe the other day. That was creepy..

met up with a few people. someone said to me.

Random: "you shouldve kept the Volvo Badge"

me: yeh i know they're kind of expensive to replace as well.

Random: "yeh it would be pretty awsome to have such a nice volvo"

Me: "yeh to bad Nissan only makes these one's"

Random: Confused look

I then patted him on the shoulder n got in my car n left..

i wonder what went through his head after that haha

I had a guy the other day ask me if my car was american. My s2 doesn't look american does it? I get a lot of weird looks here, being that mine is the only one in my area and when you do see another one its only here for a day and its gone again.

security guard (nice bloke) at work pulls up next to my car in his recently purchased second hand `93 volvo...

"wanted this to look like urs... know any good places to get tinting and my suspension done"

I lol'd...

Helped move a VZ 6cyl ute off the road last night.

2 male teenagers and 1 female teenager were trying to move it (the clutch had died).

Pushed it well off the road and was about to get in my car when the female turns to me and the following exchange took place;

Female: "I wish ours sounded like yours"

Male 1: "It would if we had a V8"

Me: "Uhhh, don't think it would"

Male 2: "Yeah, I haven't seen a VE with a Cadillac grill before! Looks great! All VE's should have come like that"

Me: "Yeah guys, the back is pretty cool, have a look!"

Silence

Female: "What's a Stay-gear?"

Male 1: "What is this thing? Nissan don't make V8's and those lights look like a Volvo"

Me (laughing): "See ya guys, good luck with the car!"

So it seems that I drive a Cadolvoden PMNM35 Stay-Gear

Nice, i bet they felt smart after that :)

Went to get a new Warrant of fitness last week (NewZealand based)

The inspection guy jacks the car up on the hoist and walks underneath, he gets to the back and shines his torch into the rear undercarriage. A minute later he makes eye contact with me sitting in the waiting room and jestures for me to come over.

Dude: (while smirking knowingly) "have you tried to modify the suspension on this car?"

Me: "Nope, it's as per the factory spec"

Dude: "I know for a fact that VOLVO's don't have suspension like this, so you want to try another story?"

Me: "You're right, and VOLVOS have been Front or All wheel drive since the early 90's, this is rear wheel drive"

Dude: (now looking rather confused) "You need to get a certificate in order to modify suspension like this and this would fail, the welding looks horrible! It's not road worthy"

Me: " Aluminium welding always looks like that when it's done by a wire fed MIG robot welder, this is a NISSAN and it has not been modified in any way"

Dude: "......"

Me: (now rather annoyed) " Look theres nothing wrong with this car, just drop it, sticker it and let me get out of here"

So long and uncomfortable argument ensues with me repeating myself over and over, he eventually gave up, realizing he was wrong and I left. What a doofus.

Yeah, I was completely dumbfounded, this guy was a veteran mechanic, he should be able to tell whether a car has an aftermarket subframe or not. I guess he is just not used to seeing more modern cars with DECENT suspension setups, it was a bit of an out of the way workshop so the usual fare is ageing 4x4's and older jap imports. Never seen a car newer than 1996 there.

I took my track car there for a fitness check and he wouldn't believe me that it had the original motor as it "looked too new for the car" so I should have expected an exchange when I brought the stag in.

Long story short he got off his high horse when I started trying to explaing that GOOD cars these days come with Aluminium suspension, not pressed steel. He gave me the sticker in the end and I went on my way.

with the letters the wrong way around, it makes it the wrong car, or not even a car at all! could be something like a multimeter with a temperature probe, for example.

SORRY I MEANT TO TYPE MY ENTIRE POST LIKE THIS

  • 2 weeks later...

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
