Theread revival time. back on the dyno yesterday for some preliminary work and promptly spat out 450 hp at 13 lb.Serious time gets serious next week.

I think I'm gonna love the new turbo.

Time for some big power Noel! Keep us updated.

Whats the setup again?

I can't remember... Perhaps I'm getting old?

Absolutely not. The aim is for same power but more reliable at those power levels

GT3788R, RB2530, Wolf V500, E85, Bosch Black 1600cc injectors etc etc.

Boost response on the 3788 is virtually identical to his 35R. The lines literally trace each other

Very interesting to hear about the GT3788Rs being that good, I had wondered (thinking the GT40 turbine was a bit overkill on the GT4088R for a "small" motor")... Look forward to hearing the final results, sounds promising!

Wonder why those turbos aren't more popular, they've been around a while now.

They have been super popular. New turbo design. They are only about 1 year old technology now.....well, to retail

This thing sees 20psi before 4k - approx 3800-3900

Not many results around would be the main thing.

Ive always looked at them as an alternate to a T04Z but too hard to find meaningfull results

From what we heard before we put one on Gervase's 33GTR, the XR6 guys were replacing Z's with them and gaining about 100hp at the wheels and 400-500rpm better response

Gervase took off his 0.84 T04Z and put on the 0.89 GT3788 and gained about 400rpm response and made (I think) about 80hp at the wheels more on the same dyno.

This is the 4th one of these turbos I have fitted now, every single one is as responsive as a 35R or around the same but makes 150 odd HP more at the wheels depending on the application of course (mostly 25/30's or heavily modded 26's)

Is that including going from a single entry GT3582R to a twin scroll GT3788R? They've been around for quite a while, I think I gave up on looking for results for them over a year ago - so if there have been a bunch in the last year - that explains that. Looking forward to seeing the final tune results for this!

Correct Lith, it is a twin scroll setup. I keep looking up sleeves for hidden cards but at this stage it is showing remarkedly similar boost characteristics to the 35r single entry. Its only running gate spring pressure at this stage but until the gate starts open on spring pressure the curve is identical.

Waiting on a wide band sensor to arrive and then we'll hook the boost control up and go to town on it.

Pretty happy budgie so far.

Interesting indeed.

On dyno/loaded/4th i take it?

Any ETA on that? Surely it cant take long

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
