Haha the sound is as it is in that video..

If you didn't notice, I had the radio turned up at the start, then turned the volume down and just had the window open..and then booted it at one stage near the end and you can hear that silly holden V6 crying..

its not too bad, a little tinny but otherwise will manage

As opposed to the GoPro Hero cams which don't seem to record decent sound at all..

Thats the best quality i've ever seen from an in-car cam, ever! The sound was fine, not much sound to be recorded whilst on a motorway doing 100km/h.

I'd love to see a video of some city driving or country type roads.

I do Scott, but i have a big one for a handycam.

In this case I just shoved between the headrest and seat..so the mic is covered..

I plan to get one a bit more suited to a smaller camera more like the GoPro mounts

Sample in-car vid from today

Looks like this, I got it in a less loud silver..

Yeh High Definition (HD) is the way to go, the picture quality is way better than most motorsport specific cameras, some of which have rubbish video quality. There are other HD cameras which are cheaper than the name brands eg Aiptek, Digilife and which usually weigh less then 200grams.

YouTube still degrade the picture quality even on HQ, Vimeo are supposed to be better. Here is an incar example using a Digilife 1080HD solid state pocket camera

Viewing the file direct its easy to see and read the gauges and speedo, going through YouTube stuffs that part up a bit. Edited by 260DET

Any idea if the Panasonic DMC-TS1/FT1 can take larger than 2gb memory cards as according to this review site 2gb = 23mins on the highest quality setting. A 16gb hd card is only worth $50.

I've made a Nismo dash for trackvision, i'm just in the process of setting the dash to read the logs. Should have to video in the next couple of weeks.

I think the trackvision forums are a good place to to find some loggers. the traqmate was the cheapest i found that did what i wanted (gps+aux inputs).

i know greg (targa tom) has used trackvision in the past.

It can, I have a 12GB class 4 card and works fine with HD recording, havent had any issues.

A mate of mine bought one of these. Its 720P and takes great video.

Think I may just buy one of these. For $199 why not !!

My Deals Direct camera arrived.

It works really well. The 720p 30fps output is pretty damn good. This camera is really tiny.

Here's some video I took yesterday. Still compressed fair bit by the up load. The raw camera footage is heaps better than this. The video output is 16:9 aspect. I had to crop the sides off so it looked right after upload.

for the money this thing is great value. But the best bit is unlike the go-pro you can rotate the screen around so you dont have to look at it from the back to preview what you are going to be getting.

footage and sound seem good. still would like to see it on track. many cameras look great for a spin around the block but how well they can handle the g force, wind noise, vibration, and loud exhuast noise of a race car is the real test.

True but with my driving I probly dont want to see it in detail....if ya know what I mean

I am going to Winton to play with the road car in early July. So will give it a run then and repost the video.

Cropped it cause I uploaded to Photobucket first and it looked shocking. Then redid the file onto Vimeo which doesnt compress quite as much. So it stayed 4:3

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
