ill be giving shannons a call soon to add some stuff (ive been a bit slack about it the last few weeks), probably looking at an extra couple hundred a year. big deal. would rather have the cover and not need it than need it and not have it. 200 bucks vs 20k. no brainer.

Quick question...

I'm currently with Just Car insurance (comprehensive insurance) and will be selling my car soon. Can I get a refund back on the 2-3 months outstanding or do I have to run it out?

I have just gone through a massive legal battle with telstra and their customer service was sooo much better than what i experienced with shannons today!!!

A good friend of mine is looking at buying a TT V6 Quattro, she has been calling around due to the fact she is 23 and shannons was one that she tried. The guy on the end of the phone refused to even quote her as she isn't part of any car club (i'm not and have my car through them)

they then proceeded to tell her that "you aren't a motoring enthusiast so i can't quote you"

i spoke to the guy as she didn't know wheat was going on and again he refused to quote on the car WTF!!

i know they look for a specific target audience but thats going a bit far

END RANT!!

yeah Nick they definitely seem to hand pick their clientele.

My bike is insured with them yet they won't go near a couple of guys I know with full customs......one is club affiliated but the other is as clean as a whistle :)

Hi everyone I'm new to the site aswell as owning a skyline.

I recently tried to get insured through shannons but they wouldent let me because of a few reasons (i live in regional vic):

1. my car is not garaged in a lock up garage.

2. the skyline I got is my first turbo'd car, they needed proof that I've had experience with a turbo.

3. my car doesent have an australian standard immobilizer.

So i've ended up going with RACV full comp.

Premium is $1,172, Excess $550 (but because I'm under 25 I add another $400, so $950).

I checked out just cars and the premium was $300 more and excess was about $1000! more!

I agree with most people on here... 'IF you cant afford the insurance you cant afford the car..'

I bought my r34 gtt tuesday and insured it with shannons with a $1800 premium. I personally think that comp insurance is the only way 2 go..

Dont be stupid.. Btw im 21.. but because of my prev history with turbo cars and regular history in car shows.. I was able to be insured by them!

i dont mean to be offensive, but history in car shows really has nothing to do with whether or not you qualify for cover? this is error on the insurers behalf, not yours. i got a 34 also, im 22, and cannot get insurance with them.

who knows what kooky rules shannons lives by. if the dude has been involved in motorsport since hes 12, then yeah, ok, but tbh as far as i know, they do not, rule of thumb, insure anyone under the age of 25 anymore....

I could be wrong but i call shenanigans

i had my old 32 with them when i was 17 for 6 months, full comp till i found a better insurence company (wesfarmers) and cancelled that.

called them when i was 21 to insure my rego'd track car with mods (and they knew it was a track car with all mods) and im not with any car clubs and they still insured me full comp.

also, my driving histroy isnt perfect although nothing majorly bad...

im not sure their method for insuring but it seems to be abit all over the place.

Weird people are getting knocked back about 'not being an enthusiast'. When I called up, they asked if I read car magazines, was into cars etc - and accepted that happily for the insurance for my R34 GTT without question ...

shannons; 'prove it'

you: 'u seen dat movie gran torino?'

shannons: 'laik who hasnt, clint is awesome'

you: 'im laik clint, but in real life...'

shannons: 'oh s**t!'

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
