paul - u got time to overlap your graph with king87s?

Converting rpm with speed makes it confusing

Google it :P There is a brilliant one for skylines on there. CBF doing it now... Ill have a play tomorrow after work ;)

When you compare the VQ25det with Variable cams to the VQ30det without, the turbo response and power seem very similar even though the engines are 500cc apart. At a guess the Vcam (vq35 cam actuator) upgrade for the RB26 would make it feel like a 2.8 - 3L in response, although it sells with a higher duration cam I assume, which may drop response back slightly again.

King87 u made 150hp@ 100km/h = winning.. awesome top end tho! But in all honesty wouldn't 2530's be better suited to a 3.o bro or 3.2/3 for the street?

Yeah it's defantly not a bad result. It's ok to drive on the street the lag isn't that bad to be honest but guess it just depends what you get use to and like.

They would be better with a 3L pushing them for sure.

Yeah I know what to expect and I will keep you all posted if and when it does let go.

Not sure what it made on 23psi it's got 25 @ 5000 RPM I will try dig up the dyno print out.

-5's for the win for street and track but agreed they could use a few more cubes behind them

On the street.

Either dial in the cam gears or go HKS V-Cam or 2.8lt or HKS V-Cam 2.8lt.

Will help with the low down.

Makes you wonder how the Mines R34 GTR is so responsive using 2530's on a 2.6ltr engine doesn't it?

It has NOTHNG at 4500 RPM. Look at the videos. It's a lag wagon if it "falls off". People bust a nut at how quickly it "revs". 5:1 or what ever they are plus the 6 speed give the illusion it's "responsive"

Between gears it's a bulldog, but you have to keep it spinning!

so your saying it's a "bulldog between gears" (which IMO is what you want) but a pig from standing start?

Not when you launch it from redline a 26 is not laggy and when your changing gears at 7.5 k there is no lag. A 26 with -5s has to be driven a certain way to be raced properly and the motor has to be built properly for this purpose to be reliable. -9s on a stock motor is a much better setup if you don't want to kill your motor.

I believe the HKS 2530's on the Mine's R34 GTR are modified.

And the RB26 ain't stock either :)

That sounds very enticing if it would feel like a 2.8-3.0. On a 2.8 with vcam and -5 that would be the ultimate setup in terms of power and response. Antz I think you need to add a vcam to your advance spec and you probably wouldn't have to worry about going a 2.8 later down the track :)

Would love to hear from anyone who has gone from standard displacement to vcam with same turbos and comment on the results

I completely agree with you on that one. I also think there is more to response than just gearing.

Having seen the Mines R34 GTR in action (in many different videos) you simply cannot conclude it has no balls under 4.5K unless you have a dyno chart to compare it with.

Yes, they are very lightly modified with the ex. housing ported (very similar to what I did with my -5s ) but that's it. Its a built 2.6 alright but still a 2.6 and not a 2.7 nor a 2.8 stroker

Look at the video where it compares it with the supra. That left hander up the hill it falls off song and it takes a bit of time to get back to its "happy zone".

If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
