The delay is most likely a marketing ploy (by Sony not Polyphony digital) or something like the damage modeling is taking longer than expected. Whatever it is, we'll probably see a simultaneous worldwide release now.

Overall though, I don't see what all the fuss is about over it taking sooooooo long.

Think about it.

They only have 110 staff.

It takes, on average, 4.5 months to completely model a car, inside and out.

By my calculations it would take almost 4 years to model the 1000 cars alone, and that's not including time taken for track/scenery modeling, interface development, online capability, damage programming, and the physics engine.

Besides, they'll even be announcing a new manufacturer at TAS.... This from GTPlanet....

And, finally, one of the most exciting quotes regarding this Friday's Tokyo Auto Salon:

"Yes, my team and I will be there. We're planning to have one of the biggest GT5 displays we've ever built. There will be more manufacturer agreements announced there as well. It'll be a great show for us."

well maybe if they stopped adding in extra cars (like the prototype of the ft-86 g sport) it might get out quicker. and maybe they should hire more staff so they can get the game released while they still have a fan base big enough to make the game profitable.

It has ONLY been delay in JAPAN!

everywhere else is still on target to get it when they planned. as it has been mention its the big boys at sony not PD

that is only because japan was the only place to have a release date. and if japan doesn't get it, the rest of the world won't either. otherwise it would be like nissan designing the GTR then saying that japan won't get it but the rest of the world will.

wow is this still going on. as i said, i dont care as long as it comes out. all those flaming the time it takes obviously arent fans of GT. and as i have also said before, on release of the PS3 they said GT5 will be 2010....by my calculations thats this yr....so that means theyre on time, even if they were a bit optomistic with initial release date.

and if the driving academy thing is anything to go by, bring it on....love it, feels soo good. need to get my wheel setup sorted

gt5 fail number 1 http://www.godisageek.com/2010/02/gran-tur...in-autumn-2010/

gt5 fail number 2 http://www.gtplanet.net/

so basically the first story means that we will not in fact see gt5 before xmas (because we all know how accurate their time frames are) and then in 7 years time when gt5 finally does get released (it will still be released on ps3 yet they will be up to the PS5 by then) you will have the choice of driving a nissan mica and a toyota yaris as they will have scrapped every other car that they have said will be in the game.

On another note, the damage in gt5 is more to do with the wear and tear of the vehicle rather than crashing and smashing. As explained by gamespot.com when they were checking out the damage model.

    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
    • wedding eh.....I seem to get to more funerals than weddings or christenings these days....
    • Yep, cheapest options, neglected and abused. The fastest way to dislike a car is to get assigned that model by a budget rental company
    • The noise complaint could be from absolutely anywhere, and anyone. Get it actually noise level tested to find out if you're actually over, or if you're fine. If you're over, quieten it down. If you're under, carry the test results in the car with you.
