Pardon my banana bender question guys but what is a hook turn?

You make a right turn from the left lane so that you don't hold up trams.

Hope this helps ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hook_turn ;)

Its actually really smart :(

That is, if you have trams running down all the streets of the CBD like we do. Makes traffic flow very nicely in a confined space.

lol @ the fat pizza explaination, i forgot about that

First time driving in the city, never been taught one. No trams where I live.

Then make it a point to learn. You really shouldn't have a license in Victoria if you can't do something in the city which is reasonably essential to know. I'm sorry, but a hook turn is a very easy concept.

Fact of the matter is I would've been more than understanding and deserving of being booked for that, rather than drag racing/speed trial.

I live on the NSW side and currently have my licence there... NSW dosen't have stupid BS road rules like VIC does.

I also live 550km from Melbourne CBD - I'd be willing to bet that there would be a fair few people around here who can't do a hook turn. I've done one successfully once (I think), but it and the whole tram lane thing in general is hard to get your head around when you're not exposed to it all the time and/or from a rural area (or moreso in my case come from another city where trams are non existent) where you never see anything of the sort.

I can understand if the OP was maybe 'hooking' it a bit lol, I know I was when I tried that particularly stupid technique, for fear of being stuck in the intersection or hit by an oncoming car!

I know from personal experience cops word > your word. Even when the cops exaggerates ridiculously. The courts look after their own, even with a decent lawyer you'll have a rough fight on your hands.

ask a lawyer if you can get the contact details of the other drivers somehow.... if you all have the same story it would be a lot better

I know both of the drivers in front, and 2 out of 3 had a passenger, so that may or may not help.

Called up asking for the CCTV footage today, the head of security in melbourne was not very helpful, smart ass at times - "we don't give out the footage to everyone" i said "I completely understand that mate" he replied "maybe you just want a picture of some cars drag racing in the city" so i said look mate I can just get them under freedom of information act and he goes "yeah takes 3 months for that to get processed....we delete CCTV after 28 days, so go for it"

After he got off his high horse, he said he'd have a look down exhibition, bourke and russell for me to see if there was anything but no promise as the cameras might not have been facing the road.

If i was you i would hurry up and get a lawyer, things move a bit quicker when requests like that come from a lawyer.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
