Hey guys, i just compared "factory spec" 0-60mph and 1/4mile from R32GTR, R33GTR, R34GTR and I am shocked, could you guys help me justify this please!!

R32GTR 1430kgs

0-60mph 4.7s

1/4mile 13.00

R33GTR 1530kgs

0-60mph 4.9s

1/4mile 14.00 at 104 mph

R34GTR 1540kgs

0-60mph 4.9s

1/4mile 13.7s at 103.5 mph

I have always thought that the R34GTR is the fastest stock GTR excluding the R35 of course, but these specs shocked me hard, i own a 1993 R32GTR and always thought the r32gtr is the underdog, after seeing this... all i can say is wow.

Secondly, I would like to know if our skylines have a good chance of beating Holden commodore SS V8 (Stock Vs Stock)? some of them claim to have more than 270KW, however their factory 0-60mph is slower than 5s, could you guys help me clear this argument please.

cheers guys!

Firstly, the '270kW' from the Holdens is NOT at the wheels. With small mods most SS's are at 220-230kW, only when they get a cam are they looking at 270kW+ ATW. Secondly, yeah the 32 GTR has always been the fastest. Not a huge surprise though, it just has a better power to weight ratio than the the 33/34.

Weight is a huge issue, think of reducing weight as adding power. Commodores weigh over 1800kg, not including passengers.

Stock v Stock the GTR will f**king eat commodores.

Thats a bit short sighted when you consider drive-train losses of an AWD vehicle not to mention the tremendous amount of torque the SS has. I reckon it would be very close over the quarter. Don't get me wrong the r32 was king in its day and would most definitely wipe the floor with VR and VS SS commodores but its 20 years old. 270kw and 530 NM of torque is nothing to sneeze at and as hard as it is to admit it holden has come a long way in its development of the VE.

I'd love to see a race around a track between the 2.

Well come on out to the NSW production car champs. There are standard commodores (300kw, 6.0l), evos, wrxs, falcon fpv, and my poor old 20yo gtr running around.

The GTR has not been beaten in a race it started (I only did the first 2 rounds). http://www.ctcnsw.com.au/reports.php

We have 6 rounds next year between Wakefield, Eastern Creek and Bathurst.

As for 32 v 33 v 34 stock for stock.....each of them made 206kw and the 32 was lighter. Sure the factory spec 32 is quicker. Of course there is very little stock (or even if stock not in good original condition) still getting around these days.

go spend 50+k on a new VE commo, v8 6L blah blah watever you want to make it to be.

Or take your 50+k and spend buy a clean r32 gtr. for say 20k.... and go spend the 30k u got left on it in mods..... than see who comes out on top..... No matter how many people like to put shit on the old r32 gtr, for them being old and gunner blow up the second you put your foot into them, for the money you can pick them up for these days.... They will Never be beaten... especially by a Aussie built peace of crap wearing a holden or ford badge.

my 2cent : D

I believe this post started talking about a stock SS and a stock R32 GTR.

Stock vs stock i'd take the GTR.

Yes the new commodore's have more power and torque however they are also listed at 1700+ KG so 1800+ with driver. That means the power to weight ratio's are similar (6.94 GTR vs 6.3 SS). As the SS is RWD with a lot of torque, it will be much harder to get off the line and up to speed where as the 32 GTR can dial up 5K, sidestep the clutch and disapear without much of a fuss.

The SS will have a little bit more top end but it's got to have the right stretch of road or track to even utilise that advantage and then it will still have to pull back the gap the GTR has gained from getting off the line.

I had a wildly modified soarer in the past that made nearly 400rwkw and it would get slaughtered by GTR's all the time because it didn't have the room required to wind up. Mind you if it did get into 3rd gear on boost it'd be a different story, but it proved to me the point about having usable power.

Hey guys, what's going on in here?

OP: paper stats always fluctuate so they can only ever give you a ballpark to go by. Don't underestimate the SS Commodore...these cars get faster every model they release and the latest are no slugs. Remember that the GTR is always going to be a manual and consequently needs to be driven properly to obtain these 0-100 times, which will not be consistent for every run you do. SS Commodores for most part are auto and if you're taking on one in a drag, you will need something of a good launch because off the line is where the GTR is so fast. If you stuff this up or engage in a rolling drag, do not expect to win because you will run out of steam before the Commodore...particularly as 20 year old engines don't yield their factory power/torque anymore.

start rant/ Those last 2 are pathetic quarter times, and just proves whoever did them has no idea how to drive, only the R32 time is meh ok, the rest are a joke. The 34 got less mile aswell what a joke. Going buy those figures a WRX should keep up and close are you kidding me!!!/end rant

And why are you getting your info for a car that was never sold to the yanks from a yank website, those guys are just shocking.

After being in Duncans production race car... Those SS commodores DON'T STAND A CHANCE!

The amount of grip the AWD gives when driven in aggression... You could take 50KW off the GTR and it'd still wipe the floor with the SS... The RWD vehicles just CAN'T put the power down to be useful in going uber fast!

i find it hard to do the whole VS thing when you car puting a 1989-1994mod, up against a 2009model car..... hows there even a VS?

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
