Thinking about spray painting some parts in the interior of the skyline. Colour suggestions? The car is white, but I was thinking of a matt silver or something, don't want it to stand out too much.

one of my mates in england is currently working on converting his Motec ECU to fibreoptic, so all it has is one cable coming out of it carrying up to 256 different signals.

realistically he says he'll have 3 cables, one to the dash, one to the engine bay and another to boot/fuel delivery system. still... 3 optical cables < 11ty billion wire cables that can short out, get interference, start fires etc.

Once he's finished prototyping it, I'm so gonna get on that.

I sell fibre optic cables for a living. Good shit :)

got paid yest + christmas bonus.

just bought this:

EPA compliant 240z + 8.1L V8 FTMFW. Should make about 350rwkw on a streetable tune. Once the kit gets here I might look at a vortech supercharger kit and custom inlet for it. Suspension (IRS, arms etc) is coming out of the S14 I have sitting in the garage, so should make it handle like a muddabitch on rails.

bending the rules is so much fun.

RA to the muddaf*kkin D

how the f**k is it legal tho?

i'm guessing EPA compliant "stock" engine still won't = engineerable in a 240z chassis

Suspected vacuum leak, after boot, it won't idle under 4300 rpm, kinda scary...

On break now, just started her up, 2300 rpm idle and acc pedal isn't loose can't see anything obvious, will need someone to hear it to diagnose properly.

Man, r32 engine bay is smaller and crowder than r33!

yup. so cramped that i still cant work out how to get my o2 sensor out without taking the heat shields off. ah well. gives me something to do this saturday

on another note, im chatting to a girl that tried her hardest and got a 28% enter.....

i painted the dash in the evo recently cause it was all scratched from previous owner

went adark gunmetal and turned out awesome, id recommend the colour to go with white to

in the sun its got some nice silver specks in it :)

would a vacuum leak cause the car to idle so high up? Most times a vacuum leak causes a hunting idle (around 800 - 1000rpm)

Dont know much about GTR engines so cant help :(

    • I strongly recommend anyone playing with cars chasing anything electric, get a basic understanding of using a DMM, and about 12V DC systems. They're REALLY easy, you only need to know V=IR and how to apply it, and you can work out what your readings should be doing. For a simple check on a light bulb, you're looking for 12V at the positive to the light, a near zero resistance to ground, and then for a small resistance across the globe when unplugged. If one of those values isn't right, you won't get what you need. Now if they're all okay, and you then plug the light in, and it still won't work, you now do a voltage check across the globe positive to negative. It should effectively read full battery voltage. If it's not, especially if it's quite low, the age old V=IR starts to be able to be thought about, you now know though, for the current flowing, there isn't much voltage for the given resistance, but the rest of that V has to be dropping somewhere else. So now do a voltage check from ground of globe, to ground of car, then do voltage check from positive of battery, to positive of the light connector. Things like a high resistance in a wire/join will start to "steal" voltage on you. So now step back through which ever wire, until you find the voltage drop is non existent, you're now before what ever is steal your voltage for example.   There's plenty of YouTube videos, but really worth understanding some V=IR, and doing some even theoretical numbers to start to understand it. Then you'll know what the DMM is telling you.

    • Item 10: Tech Edge wideband sensor interface and display. You’ll need to buy a new sensor. $150. Item 11: part of a Willians 5 point harness. $40 Item 12: OS88 gear display. No need for it now, my PPG sequential came with one. $30
    • I took it out, even though I knew I probably don't know what I'm doing other than looking for power signal lol. Lesson learned here I guess, even if it looks normal, worth checking as it only takes a few seconds anyhow. And maybe disconnect the battery, even though really shouldn't have to.
