Its possible that it will be, but I don't know if anyone would knock THAT many k's off.

I was referring more to the cars you see on car sales that have 80,000k's on the clock, seat bolster completely disintegrated, steering wheel, shift knob, pedal rubbers and handbrake warn down to nothing, holes in the carpet from the heel of shoes and so on. It would be interesting to see what this GTR looks like.

new cluster, interior - quite easily. I have a couple of GTR clusters that were left at teh workshop (they are NOT for sale.) and I know those were swapsies..

lol, definitely headed for parramatta road with 60,000kms on it.

it's actually not too bad a looking car with no accident history and with that many kms probably a one or 2 owner car. the guy probably drove a shitload to work every day or something. if it's had lots of long trips then it's not that bad really. I'd say it's probably in similar condition to a city car that has 100,000kms city, short trip kms on it.

having said all that.... it is an awful lot of kms on a GTR. still if it goes cheap it would be worth it as a daily as long as it's been looked after (which I'd say it has).

It's been withdrawn from auction!! Nooooooooooooo!

d'oh! it was still active an hour ago when I saved the pics. but just checked again now and it's no longer available. gooooone. maybe the owner decided to take it home and wipe off 300,000kms so he can get that extra .5 to bump it up to a grade 4.... hell maybe he can hide all the dead ciggy buts in the ashtray and spray some air freshener and try and turn that interior C into a B?

In reality I'm guessing it probably sold somewhere else or maybe it broke down. lol.

I wonder what it would have sold for otherwise? I'm guessing some exporter would have seriously bought it and put in a new cluster. pretty sad for some poor bloke buying his 80,000kms GTR that really is nudging 400,000kms... :P I don't think I've driven 400,000kms in my whole life of all my cars put together!

would explain the km and the C graded interior but I still think probably just 1 owner with a lot of driving to do... Don't think I've seen a bayside blue police model, they all seemed to be custom painted in the black and white scheme. and it would be un-usual for police department to keep a car for 10 years.

I was at the big police station in Osaka yesterday and saw some unmarked police cars there they where driving them out to patrol like a 1991 Cedric so i believe its possible they keep some cars for a very long time

It's grey :banana: And they do have unmarked cars in Japan don't forget. As Phil said, they often do hold on to their cars for a long time, I've seen a stack of oldies getting around the place.

....so kinda like watching the movie "hard boiled" yeah? cops driving in nostalgic j-cars. haha

this particular car would be interesting to read a write up about though - like how much it hypothetically went for sale for - why it has such high km, what sort of owner/owners did it have...

it'd be a heart breat to pay money for a gttr new then have it auctioned off for 2 million yen or so... such little return!!!

...i guess that's why the cluster's about to be swapped now though =P

Slightly off topic...

In Japan do the police departments actually buy the cars as opposed to here in Australia where the police lease the cars instead?

Reason I came up with this GT-R being an ex-cop car "theory" is because:

- High KMs - These cars will always be on the road - like a taxi

- Interior is quite average/lower grade

- Well maintained - I'd "imagine" a typical person in Japan wouldn't really bother once the KMs and the age increases.

- Seems stock

- I've seen videos/pictures of un-marked GT-Rs in Japan with this same colour.

- All (marked and un-marked) police R34 GT-Rs have front fog lights. But this doesn't definately mean it was a cop car - but just a feature to note.

cars are donated to the police by manufacturers... well actually local agents of manufacturers. The only specially comissioned skylines I know of are the undercover sedans.

All those sports cars that show up in searches as Police cars in Japan like the GTRs and FD rx7s, etc are actually used by highway patol officers, not your regular Police officer.

The katakana is a bit small to read, cant make it out but it does have an aftermarket muffler.

      A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!

      Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
