Hey everyone.

Just bought a 2002 M35 (Picking it up next week) and am trying to find some insurance.... Being 23 doesn't seem to be helping.

I called Just Car and was quoted $1656.00 with a $2000 excess and just wanted to know who everyone else is with?

Shannon's wont quote me as I am under 25....

Cheers.

Chris.

Now - Shannons @ $1500 with $500 excess ( Shannons do pay by the month)

Rating 1, 35 Year old, Northern Beaches

Agree value

You can get a discount on that if you have a CAMS licence.

Original question answer: Cannot help you with the under 23 thing....maybe use your Mum and Dad to register and insure the car.....will work out a shit load cheaper!

You get cheaper insurance if you thrash your car on the track?

Just Cars $1100

Shannons wouldn't touch me as the car is only in a carport. Must be garaged. If only there was room. :bunny:

Shannons.

Without mods (from memory) around $850, but that was a couple of years ago.

Currently with a number of mods, rating 1, 33y.o, agreed value, $500 excess... $1032 :bunny:

(as an aside, I just added my Nismo suspension and PM35 Axis S front end conversion which bumped up the agreed value, but not the premium  )

The M35 I have was $814 at Just Car, Comp and $600 excess with only few extras. I leave the car locked in garage. Its weird how the prices vary for the same company? It must be all about where you live.

Just car renewal came in and it went up $100! WTF? I haven't made a claim so for a year of no claim motoring they put my premium up?! Time to switch. Is it worth a phone call you think or just jump?

Try going on line and filling out a quote form from just car I bet it will be cheaper for exactly the same thing. Thats what I did after mine went up also. New quote $814. I then cancelled old policy and pay for new easy.

ALWAYS call, I've hear that the insurers regularly do this because they know that some people will just pay it without question. If you ring and ask them, it's likely that they will give you a reduced rate.

Usually, you wouldn't even need to cancel the old policy if you stuck to the same insurer...

It never hurts to ask anyway - the worst they can say is no, and if you don't ask you'll never know if the option for better pricing is there. I use this philosophy whenever I buy just about anything that I believe can be discounted.

Yous guys are gunna hate me....

Shannons, about $670.

Me 38, car standard, garaged etc.

There have to be some benefits to living out west...

Wow that's the cheapest I've ever heard, and out west as well.. I thought it was more of a liability out there. Might have to call my mate from Shannons and ask him.

Actually, what's the usage on your premium. I bet it's limited.

My full comp premium is just over 1k, rating 1, over 40 yo, garaged, with Shannons.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
